I bought a bunch of used PPI fiber launches/collimators from Photonbeam when he was shedding gear. Stuck them on a mobo like this:

thanks for the info and mine is indeed 19 fibers, i was going to build it into a portable version to light off the fuses on fireworks i just need to protect the fiber end from the residues that safety fuse gives off, since my portable diver was badly damaged in a house fire in 2006 i gave up on the idea, that and every one near the thing would need safety goggles as well made it inpactable to put into use so all it has done since is burn smiley faces onto the wood back massage thingies, the driver though is rebuild-able, only the wiring was melted, i bought it in 2005 when stuff like that was not as common, visible light diodes can do the same thing for a lot less in power consumption and less expensive optics

... search a lens with 10-20mm FL and 20-40mm diameter and set it with roughly 30mm distance to the fiber end ... then search the focus and adjust the distances how you'll need them.

Here's an image of one of my first optical fiber-setups - http://reprap.org/wiki/File:Lasermodule-V2.jpg

cool, thanks for the info, now will the lens be concave or convex ? optics is one of my weak points
