Laser power very difficult to discern from a video. However, in most of his videos I'm sure he's used 3 or 5 watt lasers for demo purposes.
Believe me, in a small area, the Venus Bradford suggests will be very bright.
I also 2nd Quickshow as a good choice of software. It combines ease of use with more power than you'd imagine for such a simple interface. One advantage, is if you ever want to upgrade to Beyond, you can just pay the difference and your FB3 will work with either!

The key is having a very high contrast ratio. The other thing to keep in mind is that is done with Pangolin's Beyond software and an FB3. Quickshow is $595. Beyond is around $1595. So.... What you're seeing in that video is more expensive than my original suggestion of a ClubMax and Quickshow with an FB4. BUT you can safely audience scan with it and the untrained eye will not be able to tell the difference.
