Hey folks -
After a long long time, I'm finally ready to announce the next gen of the Ether Dream!
What's the same:
- Same form factor - comes in a box or can be integrated into a projector
- Same network protocol, driver, etc
- Same price
What's new:
- 16-bit output on X and Y
- 10-bit output on all eight ILDA color channels (R, G, B, I, U1-U4)
- Better CPU, more RAM, enabling higher point rates
- Support for expansion over the ILDA DB25 connector (repurposing extra color channels)
- Built-in DMX transceiver for use when built in to the projector
- Improved USB support: drag-and-drop firmware updates, with more goodies coming
- Supports USB power, so (once firmware support is there) you can use it as a USB DAC. Yay fewer cables!
- More blinky! Three full color LEDs on the front so you can see what's going on.
I've been prototyping for a while and brought a couple to NWLEM to try out. I'm about to hit the order button on a big batch... hoping they'll be ready by Thanksgiving.
