... you can search ebay or local surplus-shops for outsourced or damaged laser-systems.

Working NdYAG- or Fiberlaser are good for engraving ... but the pumping diodes out from damaged fiberlasers can be of even better use for SLS or with higer powers (have types with 5, 9, 25, 30 and 200Watts @975nm) can be combined for enough energy to cut trough steel!

    ... got two IR-diodelasers with 250-270W nominal power @976nm and a PS with 40Amps@15Volts.

Tested one of them without and with a collimating lens with 60Watt output power -- had no water coolant at hand, so only short test ...

(could only adjust 500mm FL with 2-3mm spot size ... with correct lens this should be more like 50mm FL and 0.2mm spot size )

... to get an impression, where I am with the 10A=60W in the "working field" of the laser diode, here is an excerpt from the data sheet with related markings

... got a newer (compact) type of 30Watt fiberlaser - the smaller red one atop of the "normal" sized type.

Will insert it into an old "prototype" galvoscanner marking setup the next days ...

... thanks for the thumbs up!

Mostly posting/blogging in German laser forums ... but will update here too ...

... mounted the 30W-fiberlaser into the "prototype" and got it all working ... but found out, the galvo mirrors are not the "combination" for fiberlaser or CO2, but only for CO2!! (exchanged them for one of the last projects with diode laser) ... so have to wait on a new galvo head with mirrors for 1064nm

Not so big a problem -- have a 10Watt-RF-CO2-laser, waiting on a galvoscanner ... and some ZnSe f-theta lenses, so time to continue with the CO2-setup too

... today the "correct" galvo-head arrived -- it has different fixation bores, so needs an adapter plate and too different distance-rings for the f-theta optics.

Works correct with the GUI/configuration software, but refuses to output power with the internal controller ... could be, I've disconnected a cable while changing the heads ... so will check the next time for proper connections ...

... yes, found a diconnected plug -- fixed it, switched on, and it works!

Now have to recalibrate for the different optics to get the outlines perfect square again
