Pleased to have finally been able to make it along to one of these events, even if it was only for the Saturday. Great to see the range of gadgets and hardware people had bought along, and to catch up with people, many of which were for the first time for me.
The 99p gas whitelight produced some remarkable beams, showing again that these beasts are worth the effort to get lasing.
Jem’s RGB lumia setup was memorising to watch, while seeing a wide range of HeNe’s and other lasers just working and producing stationary beams was interesting to see.
Glad I was able to stay for the curry, which was followed by a 6 minute, full-on, timecoded fireworks show in the carpark, which put most public shows to shame. No wonder the pyro guys had to spend the whole day wiring the show up.
Good to see the spirit that exists among those with a shared interest in these exotic light sources; it is easy to see why this LEM has reached its 10th year. Hopefully I can make it along to another one in the future, and fill my own table by bringing some of my own gadgetry to the meet
