Default Old Soviet Light Show Projector

The first old laser of 2018 and a great addition to the archive here is this 1988 model LSU-1 light show projector from the former Soviet Union. Another from the collection of Andrey Urazov of Odessa, Ukraine (Laserbuilder here), it joins thirty others here from that country. The tube is broken at the front, but I glued it back together with some Norland 61. The single scanning mirror and the plug are missing, but everything else is there. The directing mirror on top folds down to protect the AR coated output window. This will make a wonderful display!

Fantastic! Nice score. Is it a spinning mirror or a xy scanner?

Looks like you've got an impressive collection, Eidetic. How did you find this particular one?

Looks like a squiggle generator. A transducer with a mirror on some springs to bounce it around.

This one was offered to me by Laserbuilder, another member here from Odessa, Ukraine. He has quite a large collection as well, and builds wonderfully big scary lasers at home. Don't really know how the scanner works. The shaft spins all the way around, and there is apparently means to tilt the single mirror radially through that axis.
