there are issues with wifi. especially on the consumer side. reliability and latency don't matter when you're streaming netflix at home, but do matter when you're blasting data to a laser projector. especially when you're in a crowd of thousands of people all checking facebook and posting photos of your show to instagram.
as star trek would say, we're just "ugly bags of mostly water" and water is really excellent at blocking wifi.
suppose you're thinkin' about a plate o' shrimp. Suddenly someone'll say, like, plate, or shrimp, or plate o' shrimp out of the blue, no explanation. No point in lookin' for one, either. It's all part of a cosmic unconciousness.
I'm with you on wifi, but the fact that the industry is just now moving to ethernet as the default is kindof shameful
ok. well at least i'm pretty sure that the EtherDream is just a little embedded linux os that
listens to osc packets on a udp socket and turns em into voltages on the ILDA lines.
I'll see what kinda api the etherdream.dll has. I'm pretty sure visual studio or windbg will tell me that.
Then I'll just try stuff. Still haven't heard from dr lava or j4cbo.
This is the 2010s why aren't we using our names ha ha

well it looks to me like
j4cDAC is just the firmware of the EtherDream hardware. Not examples of how to hook to it via EtherDream.dll and send graphics.
But i did find
netherdream - looks like my best bet cuz it's c++ on (i think?) windows. I could be wrong tho - just found it today.
VVVV.LaserDAC - seems to hook to all kinds of DACs including EtherDream. but it's c# - meh. This might be the Dr Lava thingy.
and another one called i guess just EtherDream but it's for the go language - meh.
it does have lots of example code, though.
Sat n Sun morning are my main pianocheetah development times. Which will be taken up by laaazeeeerzz for a while.
I used to steal work cycles and do pianocheetah, but i can't seem to manage that any more dang it.
Weeeeeeeeeee shall seeeeeeeeeeeeeee

actually it does look like j4cDAC has a teeny bit of demo code
in driver/libetherdream/test.c or somethin like that - drawing a circle.
i think i'm SET
