Default EtherDream.dll and it's latest firmware... HELP :)

Ok, I am suspecting that I shouldn't have put the latest firmware onto my EtherDream2...

EtherDreamGetCardNum() is returning 0 for me a lot AND
upon EtherDreamCloseDevice, it truly dies (both LEDs by ilda cable off).

I suspect the latest firmware wasn't tested with EtherDream.dll on windows...

I need help from somebody with an EtherDream2 that's using windows.

    Please go to https://ether-dream.com/downloads-ed2.html
and download the windows diagnostic tool (sitter.exe)

When your EtherDream2 is on your network, please run sitter.exe
(I had to open a shell window to run it cuz it was being flagged as malicious
due to not being signed - stupid virus checkers - unsigned != malicious !!!)

Please tell me the firmware version it lists (bottom of the little window).
I suspect it will be r239 unless you've specifically updated the firmware.

Mine is r269 (and whatever hex).
The one that was on it previously was r239.
And I have NO WAY to get r239 BACK now ((

So if you DO have r239, I'd appreciate it if you could...
    - find a plain usb cable (with the square end that'll go into the DAC).
    - connect your dac directly to your Windows PC with it.
    - the DAC will show up as a drive.
    - copy the ed2.fw file to your pc and email it to me. stephen.hazel@gmail.com
    - notification area - safely remove USB drive

And if you DO have r269, please let me know if your EtherDream2 acts funny sometimes.
Like you always gotta power cycle the DAC.

    Thanks much,

    ...Steve

Ok you know i just re-downloaded the latest ed2.fw file and
    put it on my dac

    AND NOW it's at r283...

So hopefully all my problems go away.

I am PRETTY dang sure that's where i got my r269...

But, whatever, hopefully I'm fine now.

    Thanks John.

Here's mine. I've had it many months, possibly a year. The download for firmware was done in June 2017 and installed. When purchased the version was 239, which I do not have. I've downloaded the current version a week or two ago but haven't applied it yet.

    Hardware 10, software 2
    Firmware r269

Hmmm, and for youu r269 was behaving fine, eh?

Well I've gotta blame my own code then. But I'm having troubles figuring out whyyy.

I mean i LoadLibrary the dll, GetProcAddress the EtherDreamGetCardNum, call it, get 0

It used to happen only when I'd successfully opened it once and then closed down.
(So when I run my .exe a 2nd time)

NOW i'm beginning to suspect faulty hardware. But that seeeeems unlikely.
And, I mean, I'm a software developer... I'm not allowed to suspect hardware...

    ARGH.

Yup, but I've only ever used the ED2/269 with LSX. Never had any problems or issues with it using LSX.

hmmm, well i know lsx doesn't use the regular EtherDream.dll...

    It has it's own .dll
