The new indie horror film Hereditary opened last Thursday, and I finally got to see my lasers on the big screen. The movie is making quite a media splash; it seems that every single news site I read regularly has a rave review. "This generation's Exorcist", etc....
From Ars Technica:
“What, exactly, constitutes a slow-burn horror film? …We want a casual stroll down a normal corridor to feel downright Satanic because of the lighting.
Hereditary's got allllllll that good stuff.”

The corridor stroll referred to above is shown briefly in the trailer:

See that line that moves down the school hallway at around 1:39? That’s a Kvant Clubmax 3000 running through a scan-through device I built called the “Wobbulator”. The Wobbulator gives the line a bit of lumia shimmer.
We shot a metric boatload of B-Roll of all the other lumia projectors I brought, and a few bits of that footage made it past the cutting room floor.
I wrote a couple of articles about this, posted here:

The only other cinematic use of lumia I can recall is the stupid sky effect in the terrible movie Damnation Alley; there must be others - anyone recall other films with lumia?
Anyway, happy to see my name in the credits and to make it into the IMDB.
Maybe I’ll get another gig out of it.
Cheers…Mike
