I put 1/4" holes in all my magnet-mount discs; it helps to align the discs to the motor and makes them less likely to slip when on the road.
1/4" diamond hole saw, a drill press, and bit of water and you're happening.

They just looked like hex screws. I bought the 3/4 or one inch long version. I think I had some thought of stacking wheels with spacers, but I ended up cutting them down to 3/8 inch thead like we used for Laserium. The projector design I settled on has a lot of flexibility for driving multiple disks/tubes in each location and counter rotation can be a nice change up.
