    Default laser show GLOW

    Hi, I came on this forum over a year ago to get advise about how to use 405nm laser with Kinect and computer. Thanks for the help.. Here are a few videos of the piece I created..

    I'm using 200mw 405nm SS laser and glass with glow paint. I'm using kinect2 and Lasercam software.

    Projector is mounted on opposite side of triangle frame holding the glass.. one of the videos shows the assembly of the whole piece..

    I watched the videos, but I couldn't see the projector.?. I did see the two other frames that hold the display together, but none of the hardware shown in your machining video is visible in the assembly video. Or am I missing something?

    What glow paint are you using? If you would want to speed up the decay process you might want to try zinc sulfide over stronitum aluminate. The latter is usually the one considered the superior as it costs more but glows brighter and longer but this may be the only use case where the opposite may be preferred.

    David Kumpula can probably comment on this as well - he's done a lot of empirical research on glow in the dark paints over the past 2 years.

    It's a pity there isn't a video of the inside of the display when it's operating. I'm assuming the projector is mounted on the inside of the triangle in the middle of the back edge formed by the two supporting walls (directly behind the glass). If that's correct, I'm surprised that you can generate such a wide image with what appears to be only ~ 30 inches of throw between the scanners and the screen.

    I assume the kinect camera is at the bottom of the glass panel then? Also, in the construction video you show that you made two projector housings... Did you build two displays, or is the second housing a spare for another project?

    Where was this displayed? Would have been cool to check it out...

    I made extra projector housings because it's not much extra work to make spares on a milling machine once everything is set up.
    The image inside the triangle structure looks the same as the outside.
    Glass is 54" wide
    The projector is mounted on inside wall of triangle opposite glass.
    Kinect is mounted on the bottom of structure.
    This was shown at Bay Area Maker Faire. I'll show it again in SF and LA in mid September
