Default QM2000 hardware reaches end of life

All good things come to an end...
Join us as we bid farewell,
    to the QM2000 hardware platform.

After nearly 20-years on the market, we are discontinuing production of the QM2000.

Released nearly 20-years ago, the QM2000 is truly one of the industry's most prolific laser control hardware platforms, powering millions of laser light shows all across the world. Even to this day, it remains one of the most powerful laser control systems ever developed! However, all good things must come to an end, and we at Pangolin are officially announcing the end of life for the QM2000 -- not because we want to, but because we are no longer able to obtain parts for this 20-year-old hardware platform.

    What this means for you...

We will continue to support, repair and honor existing warranties, on all QM2000 hardware devices. So if you are still using this hardware, or if you need support in the future, rest assured we are going to be here to help.

However, once our final stock of QM2000 systems are sold, we will no longer be producing any more of these devices. This also includes QM2000 accessory products, such as the .NET Laptop Box, 19-Inch Rack Mount, and .NET OEM.

If you are still interested in purchasing QM2000 devices, and require some for your own personal projects and events, contact us a soon as possible to reserve systems from our remaining stock. Only a small number of systems still remain, and we are confident they will all be sold well before the end of the year.

    Alternative hardware options

We have a variety of alternative hardware and control options, as potential replacements for the QM2000. These include FB4, and FB3QS (both of which include QuickShow software, and also work with our newer BEYOND software).
A brief overview of each control hardware, is provided below:

FB4: This is an OEM hardware device, that can be built inside of a laser projector, or into an external enclosure, to use with an existing ILDA based laser projector. Pangolin can provide you with the FB4 inside of a new laser, as an OEM device, or with an external enclosure.

FB3QS: The FB3QS is a "plug and play" laser controller. It connects to your computer via USB, and then to the laser using an ILDA cable connection. It's incredibly powerful, yet very simple and easy to use and integrate. It's great if you need a fast, easy and simple laser controller to work with.

    Questions? We're here to help.

If you have any questions about this notice, or about Pangolin products or the industry in general, let us know. We pride ourselves on the service and support offered to our clients, and will do all we can to help assist in this regard.

suppose you're thinkin' about a plate o' shrimp. Suddenly someone'll say, like, plate, or shrimp, or plate o' shrimp out of the blue, no explanation. No point in lookin' for one, either. It's all part of a cosmic unconciousness.

There is no trade in program as of now - we have little use for old hardware returned. Each will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis, and only toward a new Pangolin control product.

In addition, we are unable to transfer licenses to new hardware - If you had a QM2000 licensed with Beyond Ultimate, we cannot transfer that license to a new FB3/FB4 product

    Thanks,
    Sincerely,

We intend to continue supporting the device, so your existing hardware is safe! We are just no longer manufacturing new units. You can continue to use your QM2000 with Beyond Ultimate in your setup, and use newer devices as 'slaves', as always.

The licences for the QM's are fine, but not ideal for programming while on the go as the QM's need to be mains 110/230V powered.
In order to use the same software I already have licences while on the go, I'd need to spend $3,500+$595 to use it via USB while on the go

Ideally I'd like to buy a new FB3 QS ($535) and transfer the old licence from the QM.NET to it. The old QM will not be used again.

It's a really shame Pangolin do not allow "sideways" licence movements like this.

Unfortunately I'm not here to debate the policy, just provide the notification that the product is being discontinued.

As long as you connect your hardware every 14 days, you can still program 'on the go' with Beyond. So no need to have it powered/connected all the time, just twice a month, which surely should be reasonable for most people.

But in short, I will comment that people would be shocked the things people try to 'get away with' in terms of licensing if we made it public. As much as we would like to trust everyone, once a license file is out, there is no 'getting it back', and short of destroying the hardware, there is no way to guarantee the old license will not be sold with the old hardware.

No problem and understood. It's just frustrating sometimes.
More than happy to send the QM back for it to be destroyed and migrated to an FB3 if that offer ever became available.
