    Default "Tria Hair Removal" uses IR laser and is a consumer product, but is it safe?

    Apparently it is FDA approved but I'm not sure about this. Girlfriend got it and I tested it on myself, it seems to work but the fact the hair comes off easily after one or two pulses as you'd expect from a large machine used by professionals is a bit scary. The build quality is good, it has active cooling and the side which touches the skin has a bandpass white color filter for the IR light and like I said its FDA approved, but should it be used in your opinion?

    ... which laser wavelength and energy?

    If someone places it on the eye-lid or directly on the eye - how much energy will entry and how much damage?

    Show me an accession or approval number or 401K report on Regulations.gov.
    Although it seems legit. 20 J/cm^2 at 808 max. If it was a cheap toy they would not be calling you in to activate it.

    ...definitely not a toy!

    If it is strong enough to boil the hair roots - the eye is totally transparent for 808nm ... and the retina is much more sensitive!

    Forget the gadget and try a razor blade John. I heard they're good for both hair and ear removal. They've been tested by some dude called Van Gogh! Totally verifiable.

    My wife has one of these. She stopped using it years ago. I recall several sessions involving screaming over a period of months prior to that . . .
