Laser Warning Lumia and difraction wheels

My production. Lumia glass and star filter. I finally managed to finish the glass star filter. It will go in front of the galvo scanner. I managed to make 2
pieces. It is not easy to make a filter. Cutting and correctly scoring the glass, a lot of waste, a lot of time until you find the right effect.

Old school! One of the old school Laserium fixes for the backlash in our Escap gearhead motors was to put a felt washer between the motor and the effect hub to keep the effect from "skipping". Having the pickoffs enter and exit the beam path is a nice technique too. Avoids scatter getting through "inactive" effects and allows for interesting cross fades.

Laserium often used a rotating effect wheel with a stationary effect above it. Also two wheels with different dc motors that allowed different speeds and directions.

    Default Such nice treasure

    I found today
box. Three beauties were wrapped in it. As a true laser freak, I married one beauty and the result?

Love that hobnail glass! I have found it to be excellent lumia media. It makes for some very complex, almost background-like, patterns with a wide but pleasing spread; perfect to nestle abstracts in!

I agree, I already used it at the beginning when I got to know lumia.

    Default Interesting Lumia Effects…

With the mention of hobnail glass, I have found a similar effect with both clear glass and acrylic golf balls, as these are typically used as a bottle stopper.
