    Greg,

I've enclosed below the PIN from Crystal Odyssey I have. Unfortunately, it does not contain any actual performance notes, only diode logic stuff. I also unearthed (and scanned) my personal PIN pages written in pencil. These are initial settings for each number rather than "performance" notes. Note that I had to break this PDF up into three pieces since this forum does not allow documents above 5MB. You can reassemble them on your end (I use 'Preview' on the Mac...)

I think I learned the actual performance directly from Ivan as he stood behind me while the show played. He also directed me the same way for MoonRock. It was a gas working with him in this way. I was learning, and he was getting the performance the way he envisioned it. Fond memories...

Ron, it's wonderful you have preserved such significant chunks of knowledge. Thank you for the John Williams PIN. That was the important one. For no good reason, I didn't expect much in the way of exciting choreography for John Williams. Boy was I wrong. Laserium is still showing me how to understand music that I didn't previously understand. Isn't that part of what brought return audiences back in the days?

On the subject of classical music, I might as well ask now about a Crystal Odyssey PIN. The shows mentioned here have voice track switch in / out select as the show plays, and it's exciting to have the PIN to read through to help identify what is supposed to be going on.

The Jaws page in the John Williams PIN contains the attached note defining the walking on the moon man, which is my all time favorite cycloid. This info is actually still a good find, as I can use this to subdue any lingering uncertainties regarding the inter-oscillator modulation signal routing of the CYGN-B, and thus have confidence I'm getting the cycloids correct as described in the PINs.

Following is a transcript of the voice track for part of the Beatles show. Wow performing a live laser show sounds like fun.

    (show begins)
    Break a leg.
    dog is 1 1 1
    fixed cycloid position 6 (ADIG)
joystick gain up and the joystick preset at 9:00
    fader1 is up
    slow fade up on fader4
and fade out on the crescendo

    ok down joystick
    fixed cycloid position 7 (CYGN_B)
    joystick dots
There's a collapsed cycloid written from the digital oscillators.

    (next song)
    dog is 01
    and these are analog cycloids

    (next song)
this is analog rotation of a reset digital spiral
of the C analog oscillator at about 3 and a half
    slow
a collapsed cycloid on the bottom oscillator of the digitals
    frequency all the way up
and play the AM on the digital oscillator
    at low frequency
AM will be controlled by the middle oscillator
and the other playable variable will be the symmetry
on the rotating oscillator, the slow analog oscillator.
(first voice) OK go fixed cycloid 1 (circle)
and spiral select 1 with no size on oscillators

    (next song)
and is a ? cycle to bring in your AO top
it should be a single bar or something simple
and 1 0 on the offsets
0 1 will get you the two different combinations of danube circles
    OK fade scan

    (next song)
get ready with your analog cycloid
and bring up your duty cycle with it already matched
    ...
all of this is completely ? control

    (next song)
    (other voice)
Ok fixed cycloids switch to 7 (CYGN-B)
make a circle on the digital oscillators
    audio mod rotator in 3
fixed cycloid switch can switch to 10 on the really big cues

    (next song) daytripper
    fade in the green
what the setup for this is ? the audiomod rotator on 2 2
and beating the audio mod against an analog cycloid with symmetry flipped over
also using low end oscillator on C
to beat the image in and out
and ? dog offset to make the image go in and out with the C oscillator
we're able to take it and seep it out so getting a perspective view
by taking the gain up into variant and introducing B also ? perspective view
Just use discretion on imagery to play with add colormod at the low end
    on the colormod 1
    are 2 in sync
    just use your discretion again
    play to your hearts content
    ...
    (first voice)
ok ? fader should be down around 4
for a quiet fadeout into yesterday
    ...

    (next song) yesterday
hit 3 on your keypad to get the ADIG image
    should rotate by audiomod rotator
    6 on fixed cycloid (ADIG)
    and axis rotation
    just slowly fade in
    rotated image
should kind of resemble a tulip a little flat on top
its got joystick on it so damped, slowly moving around
by switching different selects on the keypad you can dissolve from one logo to another
and they'll stay locked up with the rotation from the digital signal
and slowly rotating to dissolve into different stuff
nothing extremely symmetrical is as the road goes
    except for maybe zero
um, avoid F for some reason occasionally the dissolve steps
really jerkily and you don't want to look at it
    ...

    (next song)
    (other voice)
    fixed cycloids position 10
    audio mod rotator 3 3
and a pretty 3 oscillator cycloid on the digitals
    we've also got joystick rotation
    use the damping
    ...

    (next song)
    fixed cycloid position 6
    spiral select position 1
high speed analog cycloid with one axis collapsed
that's rotated for the green image
play the beam torquer fading in from blue
    and the individual size controls
    ...

    (next song)
    (first voice)
    Ok, ? KQO
and ? colormod on the slow oscillator
to do a nice slow beating of the center
and you sum that in to to get the good old snake
and the little things that become horns
could be KQO also, they could be digital cycloid
and when it tumbles like that it's really good if
sum is on it so theres ? that little stick
    ...
The horns ? should be horns slow oscillator so ? or three sticks out
by looking at sizes and symmetries and joysticks go nuts on everything ? shape
    now you'll have fun

    (next song) magical mystery tour
    (other voice)
    ok spiral select 2...

As an emergency meeting site, in the event that photonlexicon.com has to be evacuated, may I offer the facebook page: Classic Laser Shows of the 1970s, 80s, and 90s

All here are welcome to continue discussions related to lasers there if need be. I will post updates there for the show which at this point appears to be happening in January.

    Greg,

Is there some reason to believe that PL is going to disappear? I see nothing in the Admin News section.

The site has been down a fair amount. Greg has a sizable piece of his life invested here.

Yes, just that. I hope our rarified community may thrive here for a long time to come. Just-in-case plans are usually good to have ahead of time though. I forget who the real benefactor of this site is. If said individual can PM me a name and address, I'll send a cheque for a few bucks.

The one projector technical setup run through just sold itself. The cinema owners said it was so weird and cool and nobody else is doing it, and they asked if I'd do a show in Ottawa. The program director gave me a prime time slot which is Friday January 31 2025, 9pm. She said they have a marketing department which includes social media so I don't have to worry about promotion, which is awesome. Apparently they are going to advertise it as a 1970's theme thing and invite people to dress up in 1970s fashion for the event.

The attached photos show the CYGN-B board from a 4 minute intro video that plays before the lasers, a couple of screen moments, and the lighting T-bar with the one projector used for the test.

That is terrific news and something you've worked extremely diligently toward. Thumbs up and best wishes!

The theater hosting my presentation of Classic Laser Shows of the 1970s, 80s, and 90s has posted information for the event. They're calling it Laser Jukebox, which is fine with me. Here on PL I referred to the playback system as the "juke" system vs. the "dev" system, which has the joysticks and 6B circuitry functional. They didn't get the jukebox idea from me though.

The date is Friday Feb. 7th at 9:30pm. Here's a link to the theater page:
    https://www.foxtheatre.ca/whats-on/now-showing/

To see the listing, click on VIEW CALENDAR and go to February 7th. Here's the description they came up with for the show:

Break out the bell bottoms and pet rocks, the seventies are back!

Hands up all those who remember spending a trippy Saturday night at the local Planetarium, giving your soul over to the mesmerizing combo of Pink Floyd or Led Zeppelin fused to some freaky dancing lasers? Well get ready because we're using our special time machine to bring those nights back - Fox Theatre-style!

We’ll be rocking out with a retro throwback to the classic laser light spectacles you know and love. We’ll blend music from some of the greatest artists of all time with old-school laser light visuals projected on our big screen and designed to blow your mind, man!

Come dressed in your retro best and get ready to boogie down because the music will be loud and the light show will be groovy. Right on!
