Look like diode based sources in the mid IR, Home built. I'd need to take a look "under the hood" to tell you. Pop the seven lid screws and shoot me a picture. The one Swagelok port is for gas or vacuum, which really suggests something oddball. Whats in there needs to stay dry and dust free, so put the lid right back on after the pics.

The two blue tubes are Liquid Nitrogen Dewers for Far IR Detectors. The detector is "in" the Dewer. Don't take them apart, as they are vacuum insulated. It takes a 700$ tool to repump them. Could be MCT, could be something else. Do they have labels?

Don't know on the lasers, they look customized.

I have added a few pics of the system kind of worried about opening the laser sources due to the dust issue from what you said in your reply it seems to be an inferred gas detection system is there value in such a system or is it so antiquated it is worthless a friend wants to buy the breadboard not sure if I want to break up the system..

I'm a Senior Lab tech for a major university. Break it up. Be careful if you put the detectors on Ebay, they are an export controlled item. Quantum Cascade Lasers are (QCL) are also a VERY tightly controlled item.

The blue things look like photomultiplier tubes. It’s 2-4mm wavelength and used for sulfur dioxide monitoring.
EPA uses them for pollution monitoring. Those lasers are rare hens.
