Default Do you have HeNe size issues? I can help.

    Hi, new member here.

I'm in the Boston area. I've got a Spectra Physics 125A that it surplus to my needs.
This is the largest production HeNe ever made. It currently lights but does not lase. It lased a few years ago before being stored in a clean but unheated room, so there's a decent chance that it just needs cleaning or alignment.
Who will rid me of this troublesome laser?

I also have a working Lexel model 75 single line Argon that needs a good loving home. Or a sincere but abusive home. Good laser if you're in Vermont and want to signal someone in Connecticut.

Please don't make me give these away on Craigslist "for free" - it'll just wind up piled in someone's garage or back yard.

Wonder if DZ would be interested? He always seemed to have a soft spot in his heart for large HeNe tubes.

To be fair though, this really should have been posted in the buy and sell area...

What does "interested" mean? Are you going to come to Somerville to get it?

I have an Engineer friend in the area... Let me contact him. He has a large enough shop to store both of them. I actually have more use for the 125...Then I can come get them once the semester starts. I'm a senior technician for a university and we are right at startup for the Semester. Lasers are darn useful for those of us who teach. I'm also a former field service engineer, so I know what "pickup" means.

Is the 125 the 6’ 100mw job? Or the short 35 mw job?

I hope someone can take and use these classic lasers. The 125 is the six-footer. The 127 is 35mWish. By the way, H-Nu Systems, Inc. made a bigger commercial He-Ne. Here's one from 1966, with a head that's 91" long and tube that's 72" alone. Other large He-Ne lasers were made early on, but none were nearly as successful as the S-P 125, which ran from 1966 to the end of the century. Thanks to Bob Arkin for saving this big-knobbed beauty!

It's 6', but I think it's only 50mw. And the power supply is the size of a component stereo receiver, not a big cabinet.

I lost the power supply for my Hughes 3235HC HeNe (30mw I think), but I haven't been able to find any specs for the voltage. The power supply for the 125A has adjustable current, so I'd like to use it for the Hughes, but I don't want to orphan the 125A if someone is actually going to try to use it.
