Default Daniel Beam's Laser YT Channel

Daniel Beam has been putting up videos for a few years which I find of interest, the last one driving a LBO crystal with 976 to produce 488 nm cyan. For his efforts, I'd like to see a higher YT subscriber count, so if members here might help him out, please subscribe to his YT page: https://www.youtube.com/user/w0003947

... the setup for 488nm freq-doubling is interesting - but the "handhelds" with the 50W@975nm-diode are nothing more than insane and the same illegal nonsense as the 445nm-"Laserpointers", but with even more power and an invisible beam!

Wait, until he get one more powerfull, like my actual 270Watt diode or maybe even stronger

[QUOTE=VDX;357319]... the setup for 488nm freq-doubling is interesting

That is just insane to do it that way without resonant cavity mirrors. Two flat mirrors, two curved mirrors, and a piezo to express the resonance would get him a 300-500% increase in blue power.

... I've tested yesterday with a green florescent glass-block and a blue 445nm laserdiode, if I'll get something different out - but stopped, when the glas starts fuming at roughly 10 Watts on a spot of 0,3mm ... maybe with mirrors and less power?

Attached some images - first, below laser-threshold to see the focus inside of the galss ... then at roughly 2A/4W with some laser power ... and last with 5W/10A and the fumes, before I stopped ...
