I've never seen that one, or anything that early...

Great photo and it looks like we have something in common.

Before I go too much forward and get myself in trouble, is this the correct setup for the AD633.

To be honest guys, I am throughly enjoying this endeavor. I haven't done electronic stuff in over 35 years. This has been a blast.

Taking it slow with the AD633's. Got my new function generator and used it to input some control waves. Wow! Some cool stuff comes out of the AD633's. I really had no idea the impact a square wave would have on the image and actually how well behaved the galvos were with it. I'm also learning the value of using low frequency waves at times.

I have hard wired 2 of the 3 fixed quadrature oscillators. The 2 hard wired circuits work great. Will attach a photo when complete.

While I work on completing the fixed quadrature oscillators and continue to bradboard the AD633's, i would like to start with the next circuit on the drawing, the KQO.

The question is what to do with L and M? I think I read in the CYGN thread that a potentiometer went across those points, but the text on the drawing reads KQO "Q" control input for L, and KQO "Q" control return for M.

Looking for some guidance on how to proceed.

    Mixedgas: 3 mirror mounts.

    Update:
Good news/Bad news here. The bad news is that today there is no cost effective way to re-create these mirror mounts. The good news is that gluing the XY mirrors on the shaft with epoxy is a good, inexpensive alternative.

The good news is I have more of the mounts then I thought, and while I do not have EDM / special sanders, etc to make the slots and flats in the tiny parts, I can make reasonable free-form mounts on the manual mill / jeweler's lathe in very tiny amounts. I'd do better if I had a DRO on my mill, but I don't. I always suspected the factory had "wicked kool" special tooling for making those. I did try threading 1-72 holes into 6061 Alloy the other day without much problem.

Can I see the mount drawings via email? I have a wire drill size that is 0.002 under the shaft size which makes a nice "glue" fit. PM sent to Lasermaster with addy.

The FETS for the KQO are difficult to find and expensive in small Qs. I finally found about twenty of them. May I suggest replacing with modern opto-fet relays (3-4$ each, max) by Panasonic etc. You may need to invert the drive from the pulse generator to the opto-fet LED, and remember to limit the LED current. The final waveform may be a bit different as the OPTO-FET can do very clean switching over the P-fet. Probably may want to put 100-200 Ohms in series with the OPTO-FET switch when across the caps to limit peak inrush.

If these are for G-124's etc. I've got a few. The hardest part would be drilling the .089+ hole. I'd cheat - cut the top, and all four sides standing up in a 5C collet - then cutout for the mirror and clearance for the mounting hole using a 5/32 endmill then drill the hole using a 2.3mm drill. Put the 5C holder on it's side and use a .020 slitting saw to cut the slot. Oh, and drill, drill, tap the clamping hole. Then set the 5C holder back upright and use the slitting saw to cutoff the finished part.

Very interesting method, laserist. We were considering a mass production method milling, drilling, tapping a long strip on two side first then cutting individual mounts from the length, then using the slit saw on individual mounts, resulting in 20-40 mounts.
