Lasercube Lumia options?

I'd love to see the results! So far every example I've seen of LaserCube Lumia has been steppy.

Even if we got a smooth dot rotating I have a feeling a rotating wheel produces a different effect.

Also, a rotating wheel allows me to use laser pointers with unique colors for lumia. I'd love to see a gold and aqua blue laser doing lumia! RGB lasers allow for any color but a dedicated diode always looks better to me.

When Hank started working on the ILDAC-32 project, one of the use cases was to be able to project a slowly moving dot that also changed colors, so that he could mount a fixed lumia wheel to his projector and still get varying lumia patterns, because the beam would be moving rather than the wheel turning.

He played around with several different movements, and the results were pretty cool. I'm sure Hank can explain it better than I can...

Can you post your results with a slow moving dot?

The Cube itself can't seem to move a dot slow and smoothly but as suggested maybe external software via ILDA might work.

How are you getting your cube to make your moving dot? Some of us here are not familiar with the software tools.

What software do you have available to use? I am assuming LaserOS. Will try to install that and look around. We can start there. Can you tell us exactly what you have tried in LaserOS and other programs please?

I made some ILDA files for use in LaserOS or whatever. Both are dots. One is a 1 RPM circle and the other is a 1 RPM linear sweep on the X axis. I used LSX to make a really small 54 point circle using PicEdit. Then used the timeline to animate it and export it as ILDA files.

You can use the Laser OS import feature to get it into Laser OS. Then you can change the speed of playback and apply Effects for coloring etc.

If you just want to create a moving dot in Laser OS without an ILDA file I found that you can make a single dot with a "." in the Text feature. I could get it to move but not as slow as I wanted.
