it's subjective. there are no perfect colors.
suppose you're thinkin' about a plate o' shrimp. Suddenly someone'll say, like, plate, or shrimp, or plate o' shrimp out of the blue, no explanation. No point in lookin' for one, either. It's all part of a cosmic unconciousness.

It's also genetic, age, and health based. Plus subjective as what and where you were taught, what mode the eye is in... (Photopic, Scotopic,Meso)

This is why there are color Standarization systems for paint, displays, signal lights, etc. ie Munsel,Pantone, Federal Government Paint Standards, Aviation Lighting, Automotive Lighting, Color Temperature (physics based) and CIE color triangle (The main data transfer standard)

Those scales are not exactly unified, there is some cross linkage in standards, but not much.

Last I checked there were "probably" three main genetic variations in the human eye in theory with a fourth on the way. There are multiple types of color blindness, and don't even get started in the biological variations of animal vision. Your dog will disagree with you on color names big time!

The CIE 1931 and or 1937 chart is becoming a little obsolete in some ways, but you will note it's a continuum, not very specific until you draw boundaries on it. Those boundaries are not lines or spots but areas of "better" defined, but not absolutely defined colors to the eye. The chart is a way of transferring data more than defining "colors"

Then you get systems like Munsell, not so much concerned about Rods and Cones,or Nanometers...
