Damn, guys... We're getting good at this!

Yet another sucessful Laser Enthusiast Meeting. Quite the turnout too, considering that we thought this was going to be a small one. (I guess the word is out! These things are *FUN*!)

Big thanks to Clandestiny for the venue. You really came through for us Paul! That room is just the right size, and it's very convienent to get to.

Allthatwhichis, you'd better be nice to Ester! Not many women are willing to stay up all night cooking Lasagna for a bunch of geeks. (It was great!) Glad you got the driver working for the green. I'll be in touch re: the scanners.

Marconi & K-car; Thanks for donating the door prize! That was completely unexpected. I'm sure DZ will put it to good use. Sure was great that you both could stay longer this time. The starfield projector is *way* cooler in person!

Bill (Pangolin); really glad you could make it. I'm hoping that the video for the scanner tuning turns out well. I'll start cutting that together in a week or two (once I get Aaron's footage) and hopefully we'll have a completed tutorial a short time after that. Thanks for bringing some of the extras; LaserMame was awesome to watch, and the other shows you brought were great fun too! (Thanks too for fixing Aaron's scanners.)

DZ: Well, it's official. Your projector rules. And just for the record, for the rest of you that were unable to attend, we repeated the brightness test between his 635 nm red and my 660 nm red. The result is just what the eye sensitivity chart says. 73 mw of 635 nm red looks just as bright as 350 mw of 660 nm. So 635 nm red appears 5 times as bright as 660 nm to the human eye. (Remember though that the color balance chart that shows the 4.6 red to 2.4 blue to 1.0 green ratio is based on red at 647 nm, not 660 or 635. Still, you get more bang for your buck with 635.)

Astroguy: *Really* glad you were able to attend. Your projector played more shows than any other I think! Gotta get that bounce mirror on the green laser replaced though... Thanks again for the Cheese and Fruit trays; they were a huge hit. Hope the drive home wasn't too bad.

Aseras and Moe; great to see new members at these things! Hope we didn't overwhelm you... I'll bet you're having thoughts of building a projector after all those beamshows! Hang out here in the forums and let us know when you're ready to make the plunge. Lots of help available.

Hayden and Don - great to see you guys. The beer was great! (Paul and Fred took the rest home; hate to see anything like that go to waste.) Shoot me an E-mail when you get your pictures organized and I'll get them posted to the gallery.

And remember, if you couldn't make it to FLEM 1.5, we've got another gathering coming up... FLEM Mark II will be held in late February (date to be determined shortly, but probably around the 23rd) and will be at the same venue in Downtown Orlando, Fl. So make your plans now!

Which venue in Orlando? Just curious because I used to live there and spent many a nights downtown. I'll be down that way in Jan. Hopefully I will be able to time it right one of these days and meet up there. My wife has family there so we go from time to time.

It was a private building on edgewater drive, less than a mile from I4, exit 85. The room is about 35 ft by 70 feet with a 10 ft ceiling, full kitchen, and bathrooms, along with plenty of folding chairs and tables. Nice place, really.

Yea, we're back! It was , definatly over Fred and David's projectors. Can't wait to see what David's looks like when finds a way to add that Maxyz to the 635nm he has in there. Having them both going to the same shows was awesome, then adding Adam's to the disco ball!!! Defnatly had more people than we thought were coming. I was worried we weren't going to have enough lasagna. Had to cut smaller pieces than normal. I thought to tell her to make another one, but we brought some back the first time.

It was real nice to hang out with Chuck and Maxyz and the family. We all have to sign a petition for them to start doing some more "Made in the USA" greenys! Maybe a blue someday. China may be able to do it cheaper, but you make em better and with shipping and possible return shipping... the price has got to be pretty close.

Thanks for the venue again Paul! It is always nice to have it almost in the back yard. Thank the maintenace guy for us. Give me a ring if yo want to do an early set up job the day before or something next time.

A big thanks to Adam for getting it all started. I don't think he did much organizing this time, but without the previous effort, this one wouldn't have had it's own motivation.

Always grateful for Bill visiting and taking the time to learn us on his little program, and the scnner tuning, and the galvo fixing... And don't tell the boss anything about opening her own resturant... I can't stand the resturant buisness. She'll end up like and I'll probably end up like or ... and then

Also for Hayden coming! It was nice to meet your friends. You guys need to come up to my hood and hang out.

It was also nice to meet the newer folks and non members!
Aeras/Eric (I think), nice Hurk , and Moe, I'll definatly be hitting you up for a "pointer" .

    And lastly a big

for Fred's boss for staying the whole time with all of us and our crap.

And for those who are saying, what about my boss, I thanked her for the lasagna at home...

    ;D ;D

FLEM was incredible! Everyone was great, seeing you all was great. This couldn't have gone any better.

I absolutely loved the shows that I got to see last night. Setting up 2 projectors at once playing the same beam show was quite the view! And the disco ball had it's own projector going to... ;D Yes... we had 3 projectors going at once

Adam, thank you VERY much for organizing this. Building a projector is my next step for sure. Given what I got to see last night... how could I ever possibly not want to build one? I also think I'll be going with a 635nm setup instead of a 650nm The color was very vibrant, amazingly powerful, and the beam was an almost perfect match to the blue/green ones.

Aaron, thank you very much for withstanding my 1001 questions, and please thank the missus for the amazing lasagna . Anytime you need that laser... just gimme a call...

Clandestiny, thank you very much for having us. I'm sure the A/C tech will love you next time he comes around... We had so much smoke my lungs feel like they're oozing... God knows what the A/C is like... Also thank you very much for the laser lessons I'm truly looking forward to the next meeting already because I'm anxious to see what you will be bringing

Thanx to the very generous folks at MaxYZ for donating that wonderful door prize, and congrats to DZ for snatching it (he was very surprised when he won ;D) and I'm sure given the incredible setup he has it will go to excellent use

Aseras... ;D ;D What to say? That Herc had me scared, anxious, worried and happy all at the same time! It's HUGE and way too powerful! Just like the Hades I'd love to see your 400mW 457nm next time... The color has got to be amazing.

For the rest of everyone who was there, thank you very much for making this meet the best that it could have been. I'm already looking forward to the next one. I will certainly be there for it. If you guys need help setting up, organizing, or help moving things around just give me a call... I'm 20 minutes away from downtown and can be there anytime

The Pangolin lesson was priceless. Although not a user myself (yet) I wouldn't go anywhere else ever... and now I have a better idea what I want to put my money into as well Thank you very much.

Hope to see everyone again soon

Wow, I dont even know what to say. What a great group of people.
For something that was supposed to be small ( ie- flem 1.5 lite ) you never would have known. It was also great to see marconi and his whole group make it as well.
Even the "rent a friends " adam brought where pleasant and had a great time.
which is why I knew they couldn't actually be with adam because they where not miserable enought to qualify. And yes adam yelled at them too and made them stay outside while he was shooting his video-

Anyway, It was a blast- looking foreward to next time. Maybe Ill dig out something special- bring your sunglasses.

I have to say it was a blast! Dee and I had a great time. I don`t think we could have had a better group of people. As some of you know I have had a rough few months and really needed a break. I can`t thank everyone enough for being there. Bill, thank you so much for spending time with us, you are a wealth of knowledge. And I encourage anyone buying a laser control system to get Pangolin. What other company gives you a world class product and hands on support by the president of the company? Bill you rock. I cant wait till FLEM 2.

    Cool

Sure am glad that everyone had a good time. Hell, even my two "rent-a-friends" had fun ( ) and they didn't know a damn thing about lasers. (They sure put a hurtin' on that bottle of Captian Morgan's though!)

I had a blast! Next time I think we should try the dual-projector trick again, and maybe re-think the layout of the room some. (Put the projectors near the door and the screen in the back where it's darker?)

Right now the working date for FLEM Mark Deux is February 23, which is also a Saturday. Details to follow in a couple weeks, but start making your plans now.

Again, a big thanks to everyone that made the trip. I had a great time, and I'm very pleased that everyone else enjoyed themselves as well.

    Adam
