Damn, guys... We're getting good at this!
Yet another sucessful Laser Enthusiast Meeting. Quite the turnout too, considering that we thought this was going to be a small one. (I guess the word is out! These things are *FUN*!)
Big thanks to Clandestiny for the venue. You really came through for us Paul! That room is just the right size, and it's very convienent to get to.
Allthatwhichis, you'd better be nice to Ester! Not many women are willing to stay up all night cooking Lasagna for a bunch of geeks. (It was great!) Glad you got the driver working for the green. I'll be in touch re: the scanners.
Marconi & K-car; Thanks for donating the door prize! That was completely unexpected. I'm sure DZ will put it to good use. Sure was great that you both could stay longer this time. The starfield projector is *way* cooler in person!
Bill (Pangolin); really glad you could make it. I'm hoping that the video for the scanner tuning turns out well. I'll start cutting that together in a week or two (once I get Aaron's footage) and hopefully we'll have a completed tutorial a short time after that. Thanks for bringing some of the extras; LaserMame was awesome to watch, and the other shows you brought were great fun too! (Thanks too for fixing Aaron's scanners.)
DZ: Well, it's official. Your projector rules. And just for the record, for the rest of you that were unable to attend, we repeated the brightness test between his 635 nm red and my 660 nm red. The result is just what the eye sensitivity chart says. 73 mw of 635 nm red looks just as bright as 350 mw of 660 nm. So 635 nm red appears 5 times as bright as 660 nm to the human eye. (Remember though that the color balance chart that shows the 4.6 red to 2.4 blue to 1.0 green ratio is based on red at 647 nm, not 660 or 635. Still, you get more bang for your buck with 635.)
Astroguy: *Really* glad you were able to attend. Your projector played more shows than any other I think! Gotta get that bounce mirror on the green laser replaced though... Thanks again for the Cheese and Fruit trays; they were a huge hit. Hope the drive home wasn't too bad.
Aseras and Moe; great to see new members at these things! Hope we didn't overwhelm you... I'll bet you're having thoughts of building a projector after all those beamshows! Hang out here in the forums and let us know when you're ready to make the plunge. Lots of help available.
Hayden and Don - great to see you guys. The beer was great! (Paul and Fred took the rest home; hate to see anything like that go to waste.) Shoot me an E-mail when you get your pictures organized and I'll get them posted to the gallery.
And remember, if you couldn't make it to FLEM 1.5, we've got another gathering coming up... FLEM Mark II will be held in late February (date to be determined shortly, but probably around the 23rd) and will be at the same venue in Downtown Orlando, Fl. So make your plans now!
