Default Anyone using anything older than Windows 10 these days?

There has historically been a good bit of people clinging to older OSes on here in order to support older hardware and software. I still support Windows 7 for Spaghetti which prevents certain new functionality. I'm curious how many on here are still using anything older than Windows 10 for daily computing and/or for specific PCs to use with their laser show hardware.

If you fall into this category, if you would post which OS and a brief reason why, I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

Personally, Windows 10, except for XP for one custom application regarding ILDA frame creation.

10, 11, XP, DOS 3.11 at work In House Legacy Test and Motion Control Equipment too expensive to reinvent, 486 ISA motherboards for machine control are STILL made.

All 5 show controllers are on Intel NUC (Kadylake) running 10 Pro. 3 are actually show controllers, two are compact show controller backups. At 50$ for a NUC with an SSD and 9$ for a Win 10 License, its nerdvana.

Linux Mint for those pesky system troubleshooting / disk recovery tasks.

NOT in a hurry to switch to 11.

... my use for WinXP is mostly to run older "industry-grade" SW-cameras, which drivers were cancelled with change to Win7

    Default Win 7 and XP

My primary computer for lasing, cnc, cad, cam et al was a Win10 Pro for years but recently and reluctantly upgraded to Win11 Pro after the following. I first upgraded my wife's 4 year old laptop from Win10 to Win11 and kicked the tires of Win11 on it for a few months, then later upgraded my Win10 Pro laptop to Win11 Pro. All these done primarily due to loss of Win10 support ending soon.

I maintain a Win7 Pro on an old Dell Optiplex desktop for my DIY CNC machine, primarily because the BOB (break-out-board) controller for the machine uses a parallel interface which the old Dell has, but is never connected to the Internet.

I maintain an XP Pro HP laptop I've had since 2005...for no other reason but to see how long it will still boot.

Win11 is tolerable once I turn off all the Microsoft intrusive junk.

Likewise. My daily driver is a Beelink NUC clone that's hardware incompatible with Win 11 and stuck on Win 10 due to LSX being installed, with PicEdit being my only 3D ILD frame app. Otherwise, I'd prefer Mint.
My 'show' computer is a Latte Panda 3 Delta 864 (w/onboard Arduino Uno MCU GPIOs), running a custom drivers distro of Win 11 Home, upgraded to Pro; mostly for compatibility with a wide range of essential apps, such as multitouch monitor, TouchOSC, Reaper DAW, PocketMIDI, Arduino IDE, PlatformIO, etc.
My video computer is a RPi 4, with a global shutter camera & zoom lens, currently running RPi OS, but that may soon change.

Q: What is a good alternative 3D ILD frame app from PicEdit? I've considered Blender, with ILD Render. Any other suggestions?
    Thanks

    Very happy with Windows 10.
Current hardware won't run Windows 11 due to that pesky TPM Bollix.
As for my two ancient laptops that run Windows XP and Windows 7 .......

I'll update them right after I get a smart meter .......

    Default Timely Win 10 FYIs

Windows 10: Four Months to Go

Turning a Windows 10 PC into a Chromebook

These FYIs are NOT my recommendations.
Personally, I dislike cloud computing and being tracked by Big Brother, Mr Google.
In fact, since mentioning my Latte Panda 3 Delta on this thread, I've been bombarded with Google ads for it, wherever I browse.
While trying to text msg a friend,"Life's a bitch..." on my phone, A.I. edited it to, "Life's a bit challenging."
