SELEM 2026 Laser cut LED desk lamps

The last few years I've been laser cutting LED desk lamps with the SELEM logo.
I will doing it again this year and wanted to get an idea of how many I should make. The nice thing is, if you bought one in previous years you already have the base and only need the disk.


Bases with the disk are $20
Disk alone is $10

I will take payment at SELEM.

Here are a couple from years past to give you an idea of what they look like.

I know that the bases have several different modes, including one where it slowly fades through a bunch of colors, but I wonder what it would look like if you hacked one of the bases to display a range of color across the width of the slot... I know there's no way you could ever recreate the actual colors of the logo itself, but I wonder if you could get a rainbow effect across the disc from left to right, or if the colors would just blend together making a more or less white illumination. Thoughts?

Damn you ADAM!!!!

Now there's one more thing I have to do before SELEM as if I don't have enough already!!

It would be very easy to rig up a few RGB LEDs and an arduino to do that, just like we did for Chris's RC cop car and my Chernobyl model. Speaking of which, should I bring that again this year?

LOL! No apologies for adding to the last-minute SELEM list! I don't know if it will even work, but if you're willing to give it a go, there's no way I'm going to talk you out of it.

I'd love to see the Chernobyl model again! Honestly, I need to 3D print one myself, but I know I won't have time...

Still, yes - please bring it. I'm sure there will be people at SELEM this year who did not see it last time.

What I'll do is bring all the RGB LED parts required and build it on-site.


You can buy several different versions of the Chernobyl model online already printed and painted. You'd just mod them to add all the active light and sound bits, which I can give you a parts list and all the code.
