I got to dig this one up out of the grave...

    Phillip,

You owe us some more pictures of this work of art... This is the future; have you mated this beast with anything?

    Thumbs up

    Woooooooooowww!
Never seen such a beauty!!! That's awesome!!!
Yes, Phil, could you show us more pics of your treasure?
BTW, if someone will have enough brave to do something like this, he will need:
    1). 24 diodes: http://cgi.ebay.com/Lot-3-250mW-650n...742.m153.l1262
    8*45.9 = $367.2
2). diode drivers: (Aargh! Can't fint the link - I saw somewhere a driver which can control multiple diodes - you just need additional transistor for each next diode), hmm, OK, now let it be drlava's drivers
    24*22 = $528
    3). mirror mounts
    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...m=300244711795
    33*20 = $660
    4). mirrors
    http://cgi.ebay.com/First-Front-Surf...742.m153.l1262
    7*5+5 = $40
    5). optics
Just have no clue where and how much
6). other items like PSU, TECs, wires, case, fittings e.t.c.
    Let's say about $400
7). Your work and a lot of patience.

Well, the total amount is more than $1995.2 of money and I guess a couple gallons of sweat...
    yeah, Phil, grrreat work, man!!!
    And thanks for sharing!!!

    Wow wow wow!

Forget about the laser show that this might project. THAT thing, right there, is a masterpiece of fine art and design.

    Wow!

Somehow I missed this thread the first time around.

wow, wow and WOW.. amazingly beatiful.

    i will start directly.. :P

although as the other say.. Sharing the drver board would be really nice. or sell it on ebay/paypal/ or here on the forum.. i would easy pay some cash for the schematics/drawings of it.

now of to ebay and some diode shopping.

btw how did you get a hold of such much aluminuim? do you work in a factory=?

And if i may ask how much did you pay for the aluminuim that for example holds the diodes?

im about to buy some aluminium here in sweden and it would be good to know how much you can expect to pay and maby deal som with the sellers. here.

Has anybody tried to build a driver similar to circuit #2 from the link below?
    http://www.k3pgp.org/laserbias.htm
Will it work fine for the project like this one? (providing that I use transistor and input powerful enough)

    Hello!
Iīm sorry, I havenīt much more pictures, only of the build of it .
Becouse I got big problems with stability (the mirrorholder was bad ) I give the project up at the moment, so the partīs waiting for a rebuilding in future
But at the moment I have other projectīs on my table.
Becouse the new 642nm Diodes, I didnīt need a big building like these anymore ....
    Thanks for your comments,

NO, it does not have true feedback and will quickly smoke a modern visible diode. K3pgp uses that one for ir diodes of a older type which were quite robust. DR Lava sells a kit that is much better. drlava is his username here
