I have to hop in for a moment to say "AWESOME!"
This reminds me of this project:

...Wow!!! (I've lost the gift of speech for some time).
To platinum: can you tell more info about this project, please? Who is that Laser God? (Thomas? Is he a PL member?) Is the device garage-built? What's the total power? (20W?) The blue part is especially intriguing, are there several modules?
Any info and picsare highly appreciated!
... And once again my rgb WOW to its creator!
this picture has appeared many times - there is a thread somewhere showing scans it produces - they are very nice. Its built not in a garage but by arctos who have (i believe) the patent for the technology of using many diodes with thier beams closely stacked to simulate a single beam. The beams are arranged with polarisation 90 degrees out in 2 banks which are then combined with a cube to add the power.

If you need to ask the question 'whats so good about a laser' - you won't understand the answer.

Laserists do it by the nanometre.

Like Stan said that is an Arctos unit, and yes they do hold the European patents for combining diodes.
Cost really is irrelevant at this level. That probably is a $120,000 laser. The blue are the Nichia 445nm 500mw diodes.
I think there are 12 of them for about 6 watts of blue. They probably chose these because most of the dpss blues are not very stable and are a little slow to modulate like the greens, same with the dpss red. It is just much more efficient to use the diodes. We have a multimode 445nm model as well, which can emit 500mW optical output
power. The model code is NDB7113E and its price is same as NDHB510APA. $3000
The other reason is that the 445 and the 650 are a little furter out on the color gamut. This gives them the ability to create more colors from the system. I can tell you that when the direct green diodes finally drop they will be doing the same thing. For all the same reasons. Now with the 440 diodes showing up they will be able to cut the number of reds and achieve the same apperant brightness.
That 445 is the prettyest color around.
I m hoping that the laser tv recearch and the micro projector craze will puch the price of this stuff down..
These are big boy toys and money really is not the primary issue.

When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro.
I've included the patent in the attachment.
I love these online patents, they're practically blueprints for us to copy![]()
Hello
I wonder what the optics in the picture below are and where i could get em. Ive heard something about Binoculars. But that dosnt seem really stable or??
Ive added some arrows below the picture.

--------------------||---------------------------------------------------||
What are these optics?
Also one more question.
Where could i get a PBS cube that big?
thnx again for all the other answers. very helpfull.
Regards.
