I have no clue what I'm talking about so don't pay much attention to me....
but why don't you just use a wireless USB hub? cheap and dead easy...

The problem I have is that, well, I have wifi on all my computers, and my mobile phone, and one of my teeshirts (no joke) and to be honest, it's never been that reliable. It's always dropping out or just lagging a whole bunch and then catching up- I'm pretty sure it's because the band is shared with such wonderful devices as $40 microwave ovens and even PC processors are churning out a fair amount of noise at 2.4 GHz now. I really wouldn't be happy relying on such a thing in a performance where I may have several hundred people watching- could be really embarrassing.

Then again I've only done private viewings of my laser so far, since I am having crash problems with the software. Still, I've picked up a pair of those Belkin USB-over-Cat5 extenders. They don't really use a network- the signal over the cat5 is still USB, it's just really a pair of baluns and timing regeneration circuits, but they work a treat on all the cables I've tried it on, including my Ridiculously Long 100ft Cat5 With A Stretch In It Where It Got Stuck Under A Door. *sigh*

the thing is its all about safety ...

suddenly the Galvos fail .... its left to human intervention to make sure that no single beems are left hitting the public...

ok.. hitting the emergency stop button.... this still takes longer than 10 mS .... and still takes longer than any scan fail device ...... but even if it take 5 .... 10 seconds its a sure way of shutting off the beams ..... and minimising the risk ,,,,

completly wireless ..... and sudenly the show stops and you have a single beam hitting the crowd ..... how do you protect them ( and yourself in court )

i run over 100m of ilda cable with an interlock cable strapped to it ...
unless anyone can guarantee wirless as safe, then i will stick to old faithfull

    all the best .... Karl

I checked it today and it works very well
So, i tooked a digicam and made a video for youtube. You can see it under the following link.

@Banthai: i think there is so reason about safety worries. A "emergency-Stop" shoud be used not wireless and a scannersafety will protect you for unwanted single beams in your audience
