Hi Joachim,
The only additional hardware is 2 10 bit DACs for X & Y + a 4 bit DAC for beam intensity. The original program ROMs (all 2k x 8) have to be downloaded from a MAME site and placed in ROM primitives (Xilinx S3 has 18kbit blockrams which can be pre-initilaized) I'm sure Altera have something similar.
PS where can I get a cheap easylase ;-)
Best regards,
Robin
Hey Laser Ben, the first post has a zip file that is an ILD file with frames from the game. When I modified the game to pipe output to the scanner, I hacked out the part that writes ilda, as to not slow the game down. I saved the code though, because I might want to create a program that generates ilda frames programmatically- like a 3d landscape or something like that.

If you need to ask the question 'whats so good about a laser' - you won't understand the answer.

Laserists do it by the nanometre.

I modified the C# Asteroids to work on the Moncha DAC. I also added the sound back in.
