    Question

So I just hook up the + lead on the diode to LDA on the driver?

Yes, LDA (Laser Diode Anode) is for the + side of the diode and LDC (Laser Diode Cathode) is for the - side.

Are you hooking up a bare diode to this or a laser module?

Ok I just pulled up the schematic. The LDA is the +5V supply. They are the same thing.
Looks like he's using the fet for blanking. More later mabe after a glass of wine.. just got home...

    Lightbulb

I'm hooking up a 30mW green module. Same one I sent you.

When I hook up the laser head AND hook up the blanking leads the LDA/LDC voltage drops to 1.52... Does that sound right?

Sounds OK. You really shouldn't be measure that voltage but the MON voltage.

Can U hook up the head to batteries to test it and see if it's still good?
(Package rec'd- it's at the P.O )goona try to get it re-delivered way out here..
_edit - What is the operating voltage for the head ?

The mon is current monitor not voltage monitor.

That sounds a bit low for any light emitting diode.
Try turning the gain pot up slowly and see if the voltage increases to what the LD mfg specs say it should be.
    Which jumpers j1 j2 j3 are installed?

Yes, MON is for measuring current. But the device is a current regulator so that's exactly what you want to measure. Also, the current should be set with LDA/LDC shorted to prevent accidentally sending too much current to the diode.

The diode will dictate the voltage drop so it doesn't make sense to measure it.
