OK WTF is 'jelly-beaning' - mode hopping or mW disfunction???
Somebody please explain to me Is this a new term or something from the old gas daze?? I've never heard it back then..

I'm not sure what it means technically, but it doesn't blank as well as the other lasers. When it is blanked off, it doesn't come back on as well. I'm pretty sure it is the driver that has the problem not the diode but I am really not sure. That is what the die4driver purpose in life is.

Do a search in the forums for "Jellybean" - it's been discussed to death. It's a term for the blanking-induced power loss that is common to most of the cheaper Chinese DPSS lasers. Bascially, the faster you blank, the longer it takes the laser to recover to full power. I think Bill Benner coined the term.

I'm interested what LaserShowParts has to say about these since they sell them and certainly would have received feedback from people who had them die or go bad.

To be honest, we don't sell many of these, but have never had a complaint.. In fact your question reminded me about a few we had sitting in China, so if anybody wants to make a offer...

The driver. The key to combating the problem is to design the driver such that it maintains current flowing through the pump diode all the time, even when the blanking voltage is at zero; the goal is to hold it at just below lasing threshold. Of course, the TEC circuits need to be properly balanced as well...

-mabe i zapped it -I removed the pump diode and it is emitting a dull red light,that wont even burn thru black electrical tape at point blanc..or my finger..A 532 is a 1064nm pump right? I didnt even think 1064 was visible..
maybe a residual sub-harmonic is visible.. I dunno.. could be the ktp is fucked.. oh well .. maybe I;ll take it apart..
