    How many points are in those frames and did you make them yourself?

    too many points in largest frames for 30k Halfway it will flicker. Also laser on/off not fast enough: frames should have more points to wait for lasers.

    Images distort some at 30k

    Way too many points in frames even for 35k.
    8.57 frames per second = very slow.
    same as above wrt blanking

    christmastree.ild max pts: around 2000 pts.
    15 frames per second at 30k
    17,5 frames per second at 35k
    I guess that is acceptable.
    distortion acceptable at 30k, also at 35k

    i see, so i shouldnt expect my scanners to be able to play the first two.

    it does play the tree but flickers in the complex parts

    This is a pic of the ditortion of the 2500 pts frame running at 30k on Raytrack 35plus tuned to 35k ilda.

    The trouble with these frames is that the points are not optimized, thay are pretty much spaced evenly throughout the frame while there should be less on straight lines and more in corners. Also the total length blanking lines could be less. These look like 3D conversions, I expect the ilda exporter to be in a preliminary stage.

    The first two are 'experimental' and simply have too many points in them.

    Most of the flicker is from the came framerate, 30k and this came don't go well together. In the middle paert (at the star) is go to 35K, works better with the camera.

    yep that tree flickers just as much as mines.

    thats fine i was just checking if it was just me or the frames them selves

    I agree - those frames have too many points in them to be displayed accurately at 30Kpps. Hell, even at 40Kpss you're going to get some flicker with those first two frames.

    A good rule of thumb is to keep your point count down below 1200 points per frame. This works out to just over 24 frames per second if you run the scanners at 30K. Ideally you'd like to be up around 30 frames per second, but you can live with 24. Get much below that though, and you'll start to see the flicker as the laser draws the image.

    Personally, I do everything I can to keep my point count down below 1000 points in the frame. If I'm compositing a couple different items in the same scene, I'll look for ways to cut down the point count. (Like, if you're adding text over a scene, consider switching to a more basic font, or reduce the point count of the font...) I ran into this problem with the "WHY" show that I did for Dream Beamz; I had to play around with the font a *lot* to get it to display without flickering while I had the starfield background in place and the dude running...

    Also, just for the record, I've seen that C-mas tree animation several times before, and my DT-40's flicker when displaying it as well.
