There are other options for dinner I'm currently looking at-

9/11 screwed up the space experience- alot of the areas are now off limits to the tour-
to include the hanger and shuttle assembly building-

they did however built a new liftoff simulator which is supposed to be quite good-
newly opened- about six months ago-

    Cool

I saw the old liftoff simulator back in 2003. You were in a mock-up of mission control, they closed the dampers on the windows, and then they played a tape recording of a shuttle launch. When the engines ignited, the room sort of shook a little bit. It was cool, but nothing to write home about.

Now, the Saturn V viewing building is incredible. I can still remember hearing "Oh Wow!" - "Oh Wow!" as the people in front of me exited the doors into the main area. Sure enough, as I went through the doors and looked up at those 5 *HUGE* rocket engine exhaust bells hanging over my head, I went "OH WOW!" Very cool... (And yeah, I touched the moon rock they had in there. Everyone does.)

Never got into the vehicle assembly building, but they drove us past it in a bus.

Dont you guys get me lost over there.... Its bad enough having to drive on the wrong side of the road but you guys sue each other (and assume visitors)....
Make it easy on us small country boys.

Sure would be good if Marconi is well enough to come.

Hotel is booked out by the Universal Studios... moneys paid .. Rental car to sort and then its all too late.

    Cheers

No, we drive on the right side of the road, which is right, not left! Well, if this is going to be your first time driving in the US, you couldn't have picked a better place... I'm conviced that about 40 years ago, someone just dropped a bunch of spaghetti on a map and bingo, there's Orlando's infrastructure. Also, coming out of that airport and going up SR-436 a few miles, you'll run into Florida's 3rd most dangerous intersection (436 and 50). If you go west out of the airport, you'll run into about the 7th most dangerous intersection, Sand Lake Rd and John Young Parkway. Oh, and Orlando drivers are not the friendlies folks around, I spent 8 years fighting through the streets O'town and it wouldn't bother me none if I never went back. Anyway, good luck and drive safely! By the way, how long will you be here? STS-123 launches on March 11th.

So that makes 15 of us; 13 members and 2 guests.
I may have a guest or two show up during the day sometime.

Bummer... fancy being that close to a launch date. I leave on the 6th !!

I have driven on "THAT" side of the road before.. just takes me (and the locals) a day or two to acclimate.

I'm taking a taxi from the airport to the hotel as i will have been on the "road" for thirty hours by then... not the time to hit a new set of road rules

Looking forward to meeting those thatcan make it.

    Cheers

Hey... What's that supposed to mean? I4 is where I learned how to drive. We are very nice, as long as everyone else stays out of our way. " " is Floridian for "Move!". Just in case you happen to see that during your visit.

Oh well! At least, being that close to the launch date, the shuttle should already be at the launch pad which is neat to see. The launches sure are a beautiful sight though:

Less than a month away now! So, Clan, are you going to enlighten us with the sort of goodies that you'll be brining, or will we be stuck in suspense?!

well, I chatted with Buff Job a little about this- I don't have enough goggles to bring a cvl-
Lol, theres no way in hell I could safely operate one in that building anyway. I thought about bringing one so everyone could see it, maybe do a re-enactment of the o'brian show, but hayden would blow me in- but well see-

The working idea is to bring one of those turrent tables with a baby 2 watt argon- I coluld bring 6 or 7 watts but you know we wont need it-
I'll set it up high this time on a scaffold in the stage area- maybe hang some bounce mirrors
or something, If I have time maybe I could do full color- but I'd have to bring a delta/wye transformer- another 400 lbs-
    Any ideas?
I brought that large frame the first time for people to check out- what am I missing ? Hmmm

how bout that gonzo effect wheelee box you put together- we could throw that up too

I think if I could ever make selem, larger systems would make an appearance- although buffoonery mentioned that place is layden with black drape- I have no plans of setting something ablaze LOL

Heey, given the power situation, how about two baby argons in one of those projectors and I will use both scan heads-
I'm up to 4 watts off single phase- good enough yet?

see , you guys have your rgb diode rigs, so we have full color for the graphics displays-
otherwise I'd jump through hoops to set up a whitelight-

Plus, I have a show the previous weekend, tough to say what time if any I'll have friday to pre load- then theres dinner, and depending how that goes, I can't even say if I'll wake up on time Saturday morning. LOL

Given the sucess and the amount of attendees last time, I'm real uncomfortable about leaving a larger piece set up and running at waist level- I cant keep an eye on it all day-

The Euros got it right with their nightclub arrangement

Hoooow about 2 projectors, 2 argons, 24 turrents and 4 scan heads?? good enough? ahhahhh haaaa haaa ha haa ha!
