Just had an email from a chap who is already using these in a 6 diode red.
He recommended the Opnext be run at 180mW CW to get a sensible lifetime. The ML101J27s he runs at 200mW. Not conclusive but I am starting to get a warm feeling about these diodes.

Just to clarify, I am talking about longitudinal mode. I thought it was common that high power diodes are multimode with several lines close together. It doesn´t say in the spec that it is single mode.
