    Hi Johnathan;

    Don't worry about tools. I'll have a soldering gun and an iron, plus a whole *box* full of tools. Screwdrivers, wrenches, wire strippers, crimping tools, needle-nose pliers, electrical connectors, tape, screws, spare wire, a drill, some epoxy, some electrical tape, some double-sided foam tape, and a ton of other stuff are all in that box. (I come prepared.) I'll also have several multi-meters and an oscilloscope.

    Save room in your bags for laser gear!

    Any word yet on which flight you got? Will you be able to join us for dinner at the Artist's Cafe at 6 PM? (If you won't be getting in until later, you can still swing by and join us for drinks later on. We should be there until at least 11 PM, if not later.)

    I'll leave my tools here then, in that case. How about cables? Should I bring my 50' ILDA (serial) cable or a short one? How do you usually set up everything in the auditorium?

    My flight arrives in Charlotte at 5:45pm Friday. I imagine I'll be out there by 7:30p. I tried to find a better flight, but all I got was a tease that disappeared as soon as I was trying to book it. Oh well.

    I'm looking forward to this weekend. It's not often (never) I'm able to spend time with so many people that are as much into lasers and technology as I am.

    Hey man, I would bring the cable, just in case, but the tools will overflowing from Adam's boxes...

    How are you planning on getting from the airport to Newton? Car Rental? Just curious, I am driving from Florida and may be dragging my ass as usuall. I may be in the area at the time of you arrival.

    It's a fairly large venue, so, yeah I'd bring the 50 foot ILDA cable. I will also be bringing quite a few tools as I'm sure several other folks will be as well. I'm not sure if Buffo has mentioned anything or not, but I think the venue is suppose to be installing the new speaker system this week. Which kinda leaves a real big chance of it not being finished in time for SELEM in my opinion. So, I brought the same speakers I had last year and 2 amps. I only need one amp for my speakers, so if anyone has room to bring anything speaker related, we may end up needing it. The amp will do about 250W RMS into 8 ohm stereo, all the way up to 1350W RMS into 2 ohm bridge mono.

    I have a pair of Peavey 10P powered speakers (270W peak) I could bring, on stands, along with a Mackie 1202 mixer, required cables, etc. I'l be glad to add them to the packing list if they might be needed (I travel in a Nissan pickup, so I should have enough room).

    If all goes as planned, I SHOULD be there by early Friday afternoon.

    Got a rental all lined up. Thanks for the offer though!

    I was curious about power. Do I need to bring a surge suppressor or extension cord?

    I'm going to stop by the airport tonight to greet my little brother who's arriving back from China (toured with his HS band preceding the Olympics) and I figured I'd drop by the ticket counter with the laser in it's rolling case and grill somebody about weight/size details and have them do a dry run for me. Maybe I'll find that I'm in the clear, but in the meantime, I'm trying to figure out what I can cut so I don't go over 50 pounds on my checked bag. (I have a habit of doing so without laser equipment to consider.)

    Hi Randy;

    If you don't mind packing the extra gear, it would be appreciated. Always better to have extra sound equipment, right? (Not 100% sure we'll need it, but better to be safe than sorry.)

    Hopefully the new house sound system will be enough, but then again, louder is usually better, right? (Well, unless we're talking about Slim Whitmann and his all-kazoo band, that is...)

    That's great news! Call me on my cell phone (843) 324-0735 when you get close. I'll be at the venue from about 1 PM until 5 PM or so on Friday. We won't have full access to the stage until after 3 PM - they have a school board meeting going on. But we can get backstage if we need to.

    For those of you that will be arriving on Friday afternoon - especially if you have gear to unload - please call me on my cell phone when you get in town. I can direct you to the loading dock behind the auditorium where we'll be bringing all the gear in from.

    DZ and I plan to unload our gear into the hallway (near the power closet), and then slowly move stuff to the rear of the stage (behind one of the traveling curtains) so as not to disturb the meeting. We'll have plenty of space back there, so we should be able to get everyone's gear staged (no pun intended) before the meeting breaks up.

    As soon as the school board is out of there, I'm going to open everything up and start placing gear on stage and running cables. It will probably be assholes and elbows for a couple hours, but I think we can get it all done. (Anyone willing to stick around and help set up tables and chairs, pull cables, and run power lines will be thanked profusely!)

    Good news is that we can get into the venue a little early Saturday morning to finish the setup if we need to. Also, we can run LATER on Saturday night. Original plan was to quit at 10PM. Now it looks like we can run until nearly midnight. (More time for laser shows! Woot!)

    3 more days people... Just 3 more days!

    No problem - I'll add the gear to the packing list!
    Do we need to bring any portable tables and/or chairs to set up our individual work areas?

    Let me know if there's anything else that might be needed.

    I am DEFINITELY looking forward to this - I've been trying to figure out a way to pull off a SELEM meet since I was sitting in Kuwait this time last year!!!

    Hehe... I remember when you were in Kuwait! Sure seemed like a long time ago.

    Dude - I am so friggin' keyed-up for this event I can hear things buzzing in my head. I keep telling myself, "just 3 more days!"

    A couple extension cords would probably be helpful. Beyond that, I think we've got it covered. James is going to bring a roll of Cat 5 cable and a 16-port router. I've got another 8-port switch I can bring. Tools are covered. Fog machines should be covered. (Marc <gottaluvlasers> has a big one, I've got my Antari, and I think one or two other people will be bringing small ones.) I'll have a fan or two.

    Anything we're missing?
