UK Laser meet 3 - confirmation

The idea is to open up to all at 10 but there will be a few of us getting there early to do some other preparation. Mark has requested some help so a few of us will be doing so, and I will be there early to get the power wired in for the 2 gasers as this will mean shutting down the power in the room we are using - better to do when there is nobody there.
So the answer will be that we are encouraging people to arrive for 10 but if you arrive earlier you may not get in or if you do you will be roped in to help out.

Has anyone considered maybe asking the local press if they would be interested in attending and running a story on the events of Sunday?
Maybe a little 'positive press' for us laserists for a change?

Going on past experience they usually turn up half way through, take a few photo's, ask someone a thing or two for a write up and then bugger off so maybe not so bad as first thought?

Personally i'd rather not be within a mile of a press reporter

I've had far too many bad experiences in both my business and personal life where they've seemed all goody goody, but when you read the actual report they have a way of twisting things around in order to make sensationalist stories, sadly not caring who they hurt in the process - I certainly wouldn't trust ANY reporter to give us positive press!

If you DO ask the press just be sure to let me know what time they'll be coming so I can make sure i'm out of the building otherwise i'll be tempted to set them on fire with my laser - Bast*rds!

Sorry for the rant, it's just that it hit a raw nerve

I sadly wont be there ..........but just to echo jems experiences i would not trust a reporter as far a could throw them .. ... all very pleasent in run up , all very pleasent on the day but what gets printed is always whatever they think will make best reading and thats not anything to do with the truth normally.
If anyone PERSONALLY knows a local reporter that can be trusted to show lasers in a positive light it may well be worth doing in a run up to the next event beng OPEN to public , on basis that this venue looks lot more suitable otherise id steer clear - its also likely for insurance reasons etc etc these events will never b public but if mark etc decides theres a buck to be made in entrance fees im sure we would not mind our lasers being seen ! - up for debate methinks !

Anyways trust reporters even less than politicians thye have a habit of make the truth sound dangerous

As long as I'm there the laser harp will be there. Not even my partners birthday on the same day is going to get in the way of my attendence. ( going to have to make up for that when i get back home.)

What a great way this meet is to start my 2 weeks holiday from work. But this week is going to drag.
