Making a TTL laser analogue modulated ?

Hi There,

I bought an 1000mW SLOC (Shanghai Laser Optics & Century Co) green 532nm laser (check www.lasercentury.com).
The model is GL532H-1000 and comes with the all familiar DPSSL driver you see a lot:


This is a TTL modulated laser. Can this driver be modded to work with Analogue modulation ? I have seen the same laser driver on the net being adverted as Analogue modulation.

After opening up, the insides look like this, maybe someone who has the same driver, and are using it analogue can help me to see if there is a difference inside (or a jumper to be switched or something like that ) ?

i have a analog driver for u if u want exact same model
ofcourse it does need to be tuned to your laser.
u cant just swap it

ive compared it to mine and mine is missing 1 opamp next to the blanking input connector
and several of the resistors are diferent

Could be interesting. Just swapping can kill it indeed. I found out the hard way, that's how i killed my Lasever green 150mW. I had an offer to come an measure the power at someone's coherent meter, but the green was already mounted in the flightcase.
I just wanted to bring all my lasers (green 250mw ttl, blue 75mw Analogue and green 150 analogue). Then i saw that both green and blue used this lasever driver LPS-1 or something. This is handy i thought and saves me from dismantling my flightcase.

I connected the green to the blue driver, went ok, actually it went not ok, actually burnt like hell and then died. That was the dumbest mistake in my life (or at least one of them....). Luckily my blue still works as i didn't connect that to anything then the driver it came with. Yup, i have come a long way from this HeNe tube of 1mW like 18 years ago in technical school. But this diode stuff is a whole different ballgame....

yea u cant just swp a driver from a other laser
since both the tec currents and diode currents are diferent.

if your lucky it wil survice but could kill the diode instantly
so when swapping a driver all currents should be recorded and the new driver retuned for that specific laser head

Another option would be to use a FlexMod driver.

Depending on the current requirements of the diode itself (should be under 6A I'm guessing!) the flexmod would be perfect.

It would require you to use your existing driver for all other controls (basically the tecs...) and you would connect the diode leads of your laser directly to the flexmod. It is an analog driver.

So basically the existing driver would only be powering the tecs and other small things, and the flexmod would be powering the diode itself. It is very small and would easily fit inside your existing driver case.

But i first would like to wait for Ledfreak3D, since he offered to help me.
If it can be done with the original stuff i would like that, i mean, it's not broken or something like that.

Ledfreak3d's rather busy now with laserrepairs, so i have to wait for a space in his schedule. Since i am just a hobbyist and don't use these lasers professionally it's not a problem.
And i might have an opportunity to learn some stuff about lasertuning, tec's and stuff like that !
