Default 'RANDY WAS HERE' -Who's Randy?

I found this on the inside of my Melles Griot DPSS power supply.

Anybody happen to know who Randy was? Is there a story here?
(If you're wondering why I opened my power supply, I was mounting something on top of it -with spacers.)

Even if this remains a mystery, it's still sort of funny. I wonder how many people Randy reached with his message..

Well, that's a pretty "Randy" toriodal coil don't you think?

    OK, maybe not.

That would be my guess. I wonder how many other people just happened to notice this. I would have never opened the thing in the first place if I hadn't decided it was neccessary for my project.

Looks like Melles have a sense of humor..

Not really that related to lasers, but a lot of old sequential circuits synthesizers have odd things in the pcb silkscreen. Like this:

That's what struck me a little. Imagine having a dermal procedure done with one of these units knowing that, in an apparent attempt to be coy, some guy named Randy decided to put his name on the PCB a la school desk... Not that I wouldn't do the same thing given the chance.

Now maybe you understand why I wanted "LaserBoy" printed on the LaserBoy Correction Amp PC Board.

Actually a Pro one I think.. Over the years I have repaired many prophets and pro ones as part of my day to day job.. Nothing like old analogue synths with wooden side panels

Many chips have (or used to have) litttle icons on them, smileys, words, or whatever, I seem to remember a pic of one with the wright bros plane on one. Im sure there must be some out there on t'internet.

If you need to ask the question 'whats so good about a laser' - you won't understand the answer.
