That is too bad, what is your schedule in June (after your graduation)?

It sure would be neat to see your Intel Science project!

Laser (the acronym derived from Light Amplification by Stimulated Emissions of Radiation) is a spectacular manifestation of this process. It is a source which emits a kind of light of unrivaled purity and intensity not found in any of the previously known sources of radiation. - Lasers & Non-Linear Optics, B.B. Laud.

Bend is not easy to get here but once you do get here and you get bored of lasers, you can do a million other things in this area. I would plan a Fri nite thru sunday afternoon event. We could pass the hat to cover major expenses, but I like bootstrap & pot luck technology. We would need a geek to get it on the net, I have no idea how to do that. I would find camping in the area or flea bag hotel for those on a budget. I would ensure 3 phase power and water and space you bring gear and control. I will also break out the Cobra Yag and peak all of you guys SP ions if you want. Anyway that is what I got so far.

It will be sweet to see that Cobra!

I can bring whatever people might be interested in seeing. Probably the 168, maybe the HGM5, I should have a working 164 and 165 by then... But that's a lot to haul haha.... Also a few 150mW 473s, yellow and green hene's.... I guess whatever I can fit. If I get pulled over I think I'll look like a mad scientist.....

    does anybody have...

1- Scanning system, full color if possible
2- Control stuff, pango, or any other free software to evaluate play with
3- You know show production stuff with music? scanners etc.
4- A laser geek to get our LEM out on the interwebs, maby with a live chat set up so people globally can log on and watch us work & drink. I think I can steal a broadband connection (cable)

Sure it would be fun to tweak 168's in all day but in the end of sat nite it would be fun to turn everything on and get lots of crap wigglin everywhere. You know pulll out the stops and wing beams even if it is 3 motor effects?

The only thing I could pull together would be an old 8 track tape playback fm mod system would be a big pain in the A to get set up...(unless I had a buyer ready of course) I do not plan on that, I am way to lazy to attempt that. All of your guys stuff today runs on a lap top, my stuff would take a van to move it to the site.

A laser lase off would be kind of fun tho.

Has anyone thought about what month - I will throw out May 15, 16 & 17 Is that doable? talk amongst yourselves.

That broadband connection is all you need, assuming that you also have a web-cam. If so, then check out the ustream.tv website. (Note: its .tv, not .com) The service is free. All you do is set up a "channel", download the broadcast widget, then hook up your webcam and you're broadcasting live on the Internet.

They host your video feed on their server, so you don't have to maintain multiple simultaneous connections to other computers. They handle all that crap for you. You have just one connection from your machine to Ustream. Video quality is pretty good! 20 frames per second is doable even on an air-card. With a cable modem you should be able to max out the quality settings and the frame rate.

The "channel" page also has a chat window that is permanently open. So after your event goes off the air (or before it starts even), people can chat about the event in there.

Oh yeah, and you can RECORD the live broadcast too! It gets saved to your "channel" page, and people can visit that page later to watch all your recorded content.

Best part is that it's FREE! So check it out. And if you decide to use it, be sure to post the link to your "channel" here on PL so we can watch too!
