    I just thought of something ...
    If they could make a PCI bus extend over ethernet ... maybe they can extend USB over ethernet

    I think this has already been done successfully. Can't find the thread at the moment, but someone in the UK found a commercial USB-over-Ethernet extension device, and verified that it worked with the FB3.
