Default Some question about Live Pro

Ok i'm thinking to upgrade to livepro with the holiday special, but first i need to know some details about it.

First of all i will like to know where i can find the features in detail (the official site have only a general explain), to know what's really improve comparing to livequick.

Second question: how the music sync works? It just change animations, or stretch the frames following the bpm of music?
Lets say i have made a frame that scan a line from left to right every beat... 4 times. If i change BPM the frames (inside a single animation) will stretch to match the new beats, or animations still playing at the same speed?

Third question: i have a bcr 2000 midi controller (from behringer): i just like to know if is fully compatible and what i can control with it.

Last question: the "famous" pangoling beyond will replace livepro?
Cause i don't want to spend money on something i will replace.

Thanks and sorry for my bad english

You should be comparing it to Showrider instead, as LivePRO seems to be based on that. I don't know if there's a feature list anywhere. The big difference between LivePRO and Showrider is simply music synchronization, which brings us to the next question.

Music sync is incredibly important in a live performance, and I feel it is well reflected in LivePRO. There are for example several ways to use "beats" in a queue. You can make it go to the next frame, restart the animation or another option (I forgot what it was though ). This is just a small part of it all though. There are also 4 sliders to change the image, effect, key effect and color cycle speeds that can be synced to the tempo.

I should mention that little is typically done with animations in LivePRO. Instead you often start with a simple frame and add effects and color cycles to it. For example, a simple but effectful mirrorball queue could be made like this: Start with a circle (frame or abstraction), add a key effect that changes the size from 0 to 100% in a nice spline interpolated curve and make it restart every 2 beats. Assign it to a suitable track and projection zone. Done!

The BCR2000 should work great with LivePRO. There are a few who use that combination on these boards. There have been some problems with LivePRO and MIDI in the past, but they all seem resolved in the latest version.

As for Beyond, whatever it is, replacing LivePRO I doubt it.

If this is the LivePro for FB3 that you're after, note the holiday special doesn't apply to this version. I'm in the process of looking at LivePro for FB3 myself.

I assume (although haven't used it) that BPM can be used to drive most parameters that happen over time, so a zoom or rotate can be set to the time generated by the BPM. Being a lighting guy, and having experienced various 'music sensing' desks, I hope that LivePro gives the option to 'tap' time as this is by far the more reliable method (in my experience). Given the multi-tracks available I'd guess you may even be able to have multi layers running at different tempos...?

    1. Download the DEMO version of livepro to get the answers to you quations.

    2. Download the demo, but you can change Cues on every X beats. color, imgage key effect etc. etc.

    3. Yes its fully comptible but it will not control motorized faders.

    4. Beyond will not replace LivePro

Yep, you can tap the tempo. This is called "Timer BPM". You can also sync automatically using the winamp plugin, but it is indeed not as reliable as manually tapping. A third option is to manually generate every beat (can be useful in softer parts of a song).

As for running tracks at different tempos... you can, kind of... but I think it would be a pain in the ass to sync.

    Hi Mille

if you Pm me your email and i will mail you the live pro help file
( hopefully bill wont mind me doing that )
it has great info about all the features

it has quite a few ways to sync either by beat tapping or using a audio feed through the win amp plugin

Jem has a BCR 2000 and he told me its working fine with midi on the latest release

i have a remote zero and that also works fine

bill mentioned that there would be an upgrade path for owners of LD2000 when beyond arives

hope this helps ... all the best ... Karl

EDIT: i had to do some work halfway through typing this message .... so im a bit late with the reply

    Why?
I use a Novation remote zero, and I have "track active" button, with this I can sellect the track where you want so change the effect speeds to sync to the beat. With the slider I set the laser to the beat and active another track.

But with a mouse only it is a pain in the ass...

the Demo version comes with LD2000

when you add the Livepro licence it upgrades it to the working version

i dont know if just downloading live pro will allow you to see it in demo mode as i think that it runs in conjunction with Ld2000

    all the best ... Karl

An example of the sort of thing I was thinking about was a line moving up and down every other beat, with a circle zooming on every beat. I should imagine its as easy as selecting the track, tapping the half beat, select the next track, tap every beat - job done? For a live performance tool I'd imagine you'd want it to be not much more complex than that.

I know my lighting desk can have many hundreds of separate tempos running on different parts from mirror/head movement to colour changes, to iris or shutter control - and all easily accessible. I see no reason why a live laser desk wouldn't want to be able to do the same, nor be easily capable of it.
