Scanergy scanners

Hi all,

I did a quick evaluation of the Scanergy scanners that some people have noted in other forum posts. The complete document can be found here (around 1.3MB PDF file):

On the Scanergy web site, it says they have invested "lot of millions of money" developing the system. It doesn't say millions of US dollars... it could be some other currency. Jokingly I would say they should invest a few million more .

On the page where you say the text is unreadable due to stiction, I believe you but the photo shows such a fat beam I don't think the text would be visible even without stiction issues. A photo of the text projected at a further distance from the scanner may prove your point better. Thanks for the review.

Hi Doc,

The only laser I had at the time was REALLY bright. I had to cut it down with two OD filters. I think the total OD was around 5 (i.e. divide by 10,000). But trust me, there was no text... it isn't that it wasn't visible because the beam was so big. The second picture is from the same distance from the camera and using the same beam. Even that isn't the height it should be.

One problem is this. Sometimes companies quote "can scan blah blah blah at 80 K". I am sure it can scan *something* at 80K, but not the ILDA test pattern, and not at any meaningful angle. That's the real problem with claims of speed without reference to exactly what is being scanned and how...
