Did you say you had a dell?
Might be worth using their utility if windows isn't playing:

I just got an ipod and have a dumb question; why can this be done through a wireless router to a wired computer?![]()
As long as your iPod/iPhone and computer/laptop are connected to a network in one shape or another, albeit wireless or wired, then it will work. That's the beauty of TCP/IP protocols(Well sort of...)
It doesn't use any other sort of signal to communicate (Bluetooth, Infra-red etc.), it just sends the plain old data over WiFi (2.4GHz) to whatever bit of kit is receiving, and is routed to the correct PC via it's IP address.

Works an "F"ing charm! Only issue I have is a screen size and not being able to grab sliders. I was trying something in the abstract generator and just couldn't get ahold of the damn slider; it kept draggin the screen around... Still a fine lil feature.
unless its my laptop and iphone which dont bloody connect.
ii paid £180 for an iphone just so i could connect to my laptop and it dont connect.
what a waste!!

You're trying to connect peer-to-peer via WIFI? That sucks indeed (p2p-wifi-networks always suck).
Get yourself a cheap WIFI-accesspoint, connect your laptop to it (wifi or cable), connect your iphone to it (wifi) and enjoy.
i do have a wireless router in my all my laser kit so i can use that
