I probably asked you this before... Do you have 4 or 8 channels on your PCAOM?

Do you just forget about the red or did you somehow figure out how to move that channel to a useful Argon line?

If you have solid state red, you can replace one of the crystals in your PCAOM driver. That way instead of modulating the 647 nm red Krypton line, you can pick up an extra Argon blue line. (You mix the red in after the PCAOM, and modulate it directly via the driver.)

As Adam points out you can change the driver to utilise a different wavelength but in Jims case Im pretty certain he has an 8 channel neos the same as mine. For those not familiar with the neos drivers the 4 channel ones are factory set to specific wavelengths whereas the 8 channel driver has mini rotary hex switches that allow any channel to select any one of 16 wavelenths - much more flexible!

I didn't know that the 8 channel rigs were user-selectable like that. That's pretty cool. With the 4 channel ones you have to buy a new oscillating crystal and install it yourself. (Though you can order it with the correct crystal sets already installed if you know ahead of time which lines you want.)

Each of the 8 channels (F1 - F8) has three controls. The 16 way wavelength selector, 16 way fine tuning selector and a rotary level output control.

mine is older and a bit different, I still have course and fine, but first two channels are reds, then yellow-yellow greens, then greens, then blue through violet. so I dont have the ability to assign ch 1 to green and then ch 2 to red and ch 3 to violet like the newer ones, but I can do 32 different wavelengths including solid state and hecad and the odd color henes as well as argon krypton. Its likech1 red ch2 red ch3 yellow to green ch4 yellow to green, ch5 green to blue,, ch6 green to blue ch7 violet blue to violet,ch8 blue to violet.

I have the list of RF freqs for each common wavelength in table form for most pcaom crystals.

my 4 channel is 632 or 647 switch selectable, then 488,514, and 477

On my 4 channel I have a spare crystal set so that I can ditch the 647 line at pick up the 456 line. Since I don't have a mixed gas, I'd rather have the extra blue argon line.
