    Cool

In other words, LASER MAME. If only we could get Rober Mudryk or Matt Polak to release it... (Hint: Rob is registered here on PL!)

I've seen Laser Mame played, and it's *great*. Tempest looks awesome, as does BattleZone. StarWars flickers pretty baddly, but that's to be expected. As for the non-vector games (Galaxian, Missle command, etc), you'd need a raster engine to make that work.

Hey thanks for the replies. I'm not sure yet what it will be exactly but I've always dreamt of a laser flightsim, maybe tank killer style .. some day.

With Rob its a ego thing, you'll never see that released.

Yeah, well, he once told me that he'd like to see Tempest played on the face of the Grand Coolie Dam, and that after something like that he'd probably release it to the general public.

(Personally I think it would be more impressive on the face of the Hoover dam, but I suppose more people would see it at the Grand Coolie dam.)

Then again, he's been sitting on it for about 6 years now. You may be right - he may never release it.

I think a few of the coding experts on PL could probably get together and, with the help of Pangolin's SDK and the existing MAME code base, write their own version of LaserMame. But that would be one hell of a project... (And one with little to no payoff, apart from bragging rights.)
