I can't imagine it being that big of a project, actually. Somewhere in the MAME code is a routine that converts the vector data into raster data. You just need to hook into that and make frames out of the vectors, then optimize and display them. I'd imagine 1/2 the frames would need to be thrown out because the arcade games probably show more frames/sec than scanners could handle but that's no big deal. I personally have no interest in it, though, since those vector games are only fun to me for about 5 minutes.

Put me down for the road trip to the Hoover Dam - Tempest / Asteroids / Battle Zone Lase-Off!!

So what would it take to get Rob to release his efforts?
I'm not against offering a nice bribe where appropriate - how about a bottle or two of Tennessee's finest sippin' beverage?

I'm not into encouraging sin, but with that guy it would be a couple of cases of Kentucky and Scotland's finest, some havanna cigars, and gas money just to get him to bring it out. A Canadian style 20 gallon Keg of Molson might help. He does not need financial gain, so its strictly ego. Incidently, any body else ever see the inside of a Ontario state store besides me/ They are very iinteresting armor plated gigantic freezers. I found it interesting and I hate beer. They hand you a loaner coat upon entering.Of course I can't have it with my one BP med either. Since I dont drink soft stuff, I was the designated driver at Laser-FX conferences. Recovering a Canadian large style keg is quite a engineering effort, especially when you have a work crew of drunken/stoned laserists and no fork lift at the hotel/venue and are trying to quietly sneek it into the hotel. They do help you load it at the store. I suspect the Provence of Ontario makes as much off its beer sales as they do off the 25% GST-PST. See, you guys knew I was useful for something :-)

I've just been PMed to be told my terms are wrong, that is a Barrel, not a keg, I stand corrected.

If you are visiting a Canadian laserist, dont ask for the optics cleaning kit before drinking hours, or your project might not get done. Or if you do so, expect potato or rotten oak stains on your optics.

I'm gonna hope that doesnt give Zoof Ideas. Bravo Zoof on another well coded project.

There are some neat ideas in this thread! We'll have to see what comes.....
I never had the pleasure of playing those atari games myself. I do remember a game called arctic fox that seems very much like battlezone. I was a sucker for 3D games when they started coming out (figures). Some of my favorites were: gunship (1st version), Jet, Falcon 1, and eventually Wolfenstein 3D! At that time I lived in Hong Kong as a kid. Thinking back of the times I made trips to the "golden arcade" in Sham Shui Po to get new games still puts a smile on my face. Come to think of it, those were also the years I discovered lasers in the national geographic! -> even bigger smile

    Something not 3d but inspiring:
