There are (4) 8" poly woofers with butyl surrounds. You see 2 of them. The other 2 are inside the front piece, facing into the box. The front piece has all of the speakers in it. The box is absolutely empty space! The front is made of 6 layers of solid MDF with holes cut just big enough to accommodate the drivers. The horn is made by Selenium. It is within less than 6dB from 700Hz to 20KHz. It also has low enough second and third harmonic distortion that they actually show you what it looks like on a graph! (most dynamic speakers have a THD of 7% or more ). Since the woofers are isobarically coupled in a mirror image of each other, they move in a completely symmetrical way. So even order harmonics are GONE. The boxes were electrically measured and tuned to be about -3dB at 18Hz. This speaker is made for bi-amping. The horn sticks out the front of it like that because all of the voice coils are time aligned.

The reason I know how to work with sound cards in unusual ways is because, way back in 96 & 97 I developed a system of using a sound cards to measure frequency vs. voltage through reactive devices. I have used that to design and tweak all sorts of things like boxes, crossovers and to determine the exact parameters of any speaker before I calculate the box.
