Well, it seems like we have strayed away from the purely technical discussion again. So be it.
I have just offered years worth of insight and experience pertaining to the ILDA file format. I've demonstrated a technique that, while still 100% compliant with formats 0, 1, 2 and the original 3, has been recognized by you as being my own original concept. I've proved that formats 4 & 5 are completely outside of the functionality of the original formats. I've gone on to offer more ideas to extend the utility of the ILDA file format. And I've offered to write a new standards document.
I guess a good question to you and everyone else on this forum is this:
Do you really think it makes sense to hold the fate of the ILDA file format in the hands of people who have professional motives that contradict its usefulness and further development?
Or do you think it makes more sense to let other people work on it who gain from its advancements and depend on it as a working solution for exchanging laser vector art?
My code is open. You can read it any time you want. I can easily distill a set of tests to measure the compliance of any other ILDA file reader / writer. I can also offer a great deal of technical help to any programmer in any language without having to see any proprietary code.
I offered my code to ILDA as a standard for compliance a long time ago.
I'm not so sure why you are worried about having to turn your world upside down to be compliant with the ILDA format anyway. You never really got format 2! And that has been a part of the standard for many, many years.
James.
