Before I install anything can you just tell me what the MCR is and if its genuine or copied.
-
MCR is the MATLAB compiler runtime engine. Kind of like the java runtime, but bigger (because it has all the mathematical functionality of MATLAB). It comes from a genuine MATLAB R2008b install, which I have legal access to through my university.

Ok thanks Tocket. I'm just cautious as to what I put on my PC.

What machines... computers, CPUs/OSs, should this work on? My Vista computer gave me two errors that I forget. One was about the processor not being supported, on a Dell, and the other was OS related. I apologize, but I was juggling a few things and forgot to write the exact error messages down.
I am curious to what the balance for the Kvant looks like on the chart.
300mW 640nm
300mW 532nm
500mW 445nm

Strange, it should work on any 2k/XP/Vista computer, regardless of CPU. As long as MCR runs...
Did you by any chance download the old version? I still had the old version on my web server at home. The updated one you can get from here: http://blue.orgchem.kth.se/Chroma/distrib/
If you downloaded the old version and installed MCR you should only need to get the small executable.
-
The MCR installer works until the .msi goes to install, then it says the installation package is not supported by this processor type.
I get a not a valid win32 app on my work XP laptop when I try the small file after the MCR install.

Doh! It seems I uploaded the old version to my workstation. Somehow I couldn't even find the new version on the computer that compiled it, even though I am very sure I had compiled it. I blame live mesh.
Anyway, just compiled and packaged it again. Uploading the real new version now. Will be done in a few minutes.

OK, the correct files have been uploaded now. I have downloaded and tested them on a Vista 32-bit machine, so I'm confident they work now.
Sorry about that and thanks for alerting me.

Hey thanks! I will download it again.

Working for me although it doesn't appear in programmes list or as an icon - you have to find it where you downloaded it. I moved my copy to the desktop.
2 pieces of feedback:
1. It would be useful to have a clear button for the luminance map as once you've tried 2 or 3 different mixes it becomes very hard to know which is which and you need to restart the program to clear the map.
2. It would be useful if it would zoom to full screen as the colour gradients on the map are quite hard to view at current size.
I've had one interesting result so far though. I found that .4W 532, .4W 640 and .3W 473 gives a nicely centred spot (may achieve white balance or maybe slightly too green - still difficult to see but not far off) but it achieves an ultra bright beam result at a luminance of 310 for that power level.
Using a similar ratio set compared to the default power of 8 watts, 2, 2.92 and 1.7W of wavelengths above produces a luminance of 1678 and a white balance which is 1/2 w less than default power setting but nearly twice as bright!! Obviously close to a good ratio.
I'm on Vista 64 BTW Tocket so can confirm its working on 64 bit.
