    Default max memory in FB3

Just thought I'd post here first, rather than sending Bill an email over Christams.

Has anyone tried increasing the memory on their FB3. I've got some quit long animations/shows that get triggered via DMX and therefore need to be stored on the card but I have filled up the 128Mb already. I was just wondering what the max size media card is that can be used on the FB3

    Cheers

I think I remember it being 256mb as an option to upgrade, but I would check with Bill.

Yea, those cards are getting huge nowdays. I doubt there is a limit, but someone else will know for sure.

Well I do not have a FB3, but the DMX SD DAC I have has a limit of 2gb on the SD card and it has to be in FAT16 format and can only have 254 shows, that is a limit of the playback software and the 8-bit DMX channel that the show selection sits in.

Found this in the Pangoloin Flashback 3 forum.

The FB3 will support most sizes of XD card, up to a few GB. The main thing is that CURRENTLY, the FB3 only supports "Standard" (sometimes denoted with the letter S) XD cards.

Recently XD cards have been release with other letter designations, such as H or M. These letter designations will currently NOT work with the FB3. We will release a different version of firmware one day that will support the H and M cards. In the mean time, you will need to use XD cards that either have no letter at all, or have the letter S.

    Best regards,

    William Benner
Could not find anything extra about the SD cards though.

I would think any size of SD card would work, but I believe the FAT format only works up to 2GB, but that really depends on what format the FB3 likes

If i remember correctly they're not supported. Something about the license being much more expensive.

I did bring this up before with Bill some time ago as XD is very limited. However, whether anything has changed to make it more affordable I don't know. Given the use of SDHC in practically everything, even cheap cameras, I get the feeling they're probably a lot less expensive to license now, but only Bill can tell you the position on that.

Personally, I'd like to SDHC supported in the longer term as you can now get 16GB capacity for £32.

IIRC it is only 128mb.. There was talk about it making use of the larger XD picturecards, not sure whether that has happened tho - I know they work with the XD, not sure whether they go any higher than 128m tho
