Default Oh no!! Both my Easylase DAC is dead !!

I have 2 USB Easylase DAC..
And now theyr both dead :\

My first USB did failed on the X signal..
The Y signal does still work great (the RGB also) !
    But the X is 0volt..
First I did think about a bad wire\connector, but it dont seem like it.

And my second USB board did die today :\
Just finnished my 1.5watt Green lasers for testing.
It was all so perfect last night..
But today my scanners did first make that zzziiiiziziziiiiii noice..
Like an wild jet-engine... (the sound was not high, just a low voice)

And suddenly the DAC (little green LED) turned OFF !
So I did think that maybe there is a fuse in the DAC somewhere ??

But after some minutes suddenly the DAC LED was green
And there is an yellow flashing LED confirming that the DAC have signal input..

The only problem is that there is Absolutely NO output on the ILDA port

this is so !"#¤%¤//¤% as I was preparing the lasers for Christmas

    Lightbulb

Worst case, buy a couple of USB sound cards and "make" a couple of DACs.

I'd make sure you don't have a tiny short somewhere though.

I need to buy 2 new DAC i guess..
If not a complete pango system

But I dont think I have any money to use untill the summer

Is there any fuse or something I can check in the Easylase ?

    Hi Liteglow,

Do you checked the DC/DC on the Easylase DAC? The little black square, in the corner of the board opposed to the USB port... I remember it died one time on my card. One color channel IC was also dead (its supply pins was shorted), I think it's the reason of the failure of the DC/DC.

If you have a fine tip solder iron, maybe you can find some spare component and repair the card for Christmas I ordered mine from JMLaser, but I think it's on holidays now...

    Hmm

Maybe it`s dead.. But how can I check it ?
I dont have a multimeeter... and I dont have a Osciloscope..

I can for sure maybe try to swap the component from one card to the other..
But when I dont know what IC is for what output, it will be alot of work...

The only way to be sure is with a multimeter... Or look at the first stage 7805 voltage converter, if it gets hot, an IC (or another component) is probably shorted, but you can't know which one.

But really, get a multimeter man, that's cheap and infinitely helpful when you deal with electronics

Otherwise I think you should send it back to JMLaser for repair...

    Exclamation

    Even I have a multimeter...

But to get you through Christmas... o, if you ain't got a multimeter, I doubt you will be making a soundcard DAC.

    Thumbs up

oh sbk you are an Angel or maybe a god at this moment..

I did do as you recomend!!
I did replace the DC\DC chip on the Corner of the Board !
And guess what, there is output

My christmas and the New-Year show is saved !!
    THANK you for the tip

So now is 1 of my 2 Easylase working..
2-bad I have to run both my lasers in paralell :\
But anyway that is double as good as nothing.

I will send both my DAC back to muller for a repair i think after New-Year.
